Stanley City Park is located on a peninsula and is connected to Vancouver's business district by a narrow isthmus. The 400-hectare park was opened by Vancouver Mayor David Oppenheimer in 1888 and named after Lord Frederick Arthur Stanley, one of Canada's Governor Generals. It houses artificial reservoirs, sports grounds, a children's farm, a mini-railway, a rose garden, an aquarium with representatives of the underwater world, both Arctic Canada and the Amazon River basin (admission is paid).
There are many walking paths in the park, with a total length of 250 km. There is a bird sanctuary with Canadian Hazards, swans, ducks, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, coyotes live in the park. The park has Indian totem poles, various sculptures and monuments to famous people. From March 1 to October 31, you can take an hour tour of the park on a horse-drawn carriage.
