The Anthropology Museum in Vancouver is part of the University of British Columbia. In addition to exhibiting its collections and organizing thematic exhibitions, the museum is involved in teaching university students and conducting research activities. The museum collections introduce visitors to the cultures of the whole world, but the main focus is on the culture and art of the Canadian Indians and other cultural communities of British Columbia. The museum presents 571,000 ethnographic and archaeological exhibits, including: 90,000 photographs; a textile collection representing the art of Asia, Canada, Oceania, Africa and South America, of 6,000 exhibits; masks, totems, weapons and Egyptian mummies; the Asian collection, including prints, ceramics, textiles, coins, Cantonese opera costumes; sculptor Bill Reid.
In addition to exhibition halls, the museum has a bookstore and an art shop, as well as a summer cafe.
