There are many castles and palaces on the territory of Belarus (however, as in any country with a rich history). But, without a doubt, the most restored, "promoted" and attracting many tourists every year are: the Mir Castle and the Palace and Castle Complex in Nesvizh. Both attractions are located an hour's drive from Minsk in the direction of Brest along the M1 highway. Signposts installed along the route will lead you to the intended goal, even if you do not have a navigator.
I visited these places in the summer of 2014, but believe me, the information will be relevant at any time, and visiting these sights is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent.
So, in order.
After spending a few pleasant days in Minsk, my family and I went on vacation to the Brest region, where we booked a cottage on the lake.

We had two free days between Minsk and Podsolnukh Agricultural Estate, so we decided to visit the Mir Castle along the way, and then spend the night in Nesvizh, with further sightseeing of the local sights.
Mir is a small town with a population, as Wikipedia suggests, of about 2.500 inhabitants. Naturally, the whole cultural life here revolves around the local castle, founded in the distant 16th century. Since its foundation, the castle has passed from one owner to another. The most famous, with whose name the Mir Castle is associated as a country residence, were the Radziwills - one of the richest families in the Principality of Lithuania.
The narrow road from the M1 highway to the World runs along the fields, and when you enter the city, the castle somehow unexpectedly appears around one of the turns, which gives it a certain majesty.
On a sunny day when we arrived, the brown and white castle looked beautiful against the cloudy sky.
The queue at the cashier took no more than 2-3 minutes. We bought tickets to see the expositions of the Towers, the interior, the Castle Jail and the church. When viewed, you can "join" one of the groups that regularly arrive by bus. We are armed with a tablet and the Internet.
It will be interesting for children and adults to walk along the corridors connecting the towers, climb the steep spiral staircases to the very top of the towers or go down to the dungeons, where medieval torture exhibits are presented. as well as walk through the internal expositions. As in other similar places, there are many exhibits from the life of the owners of the castle.
As an important architectural and world heritage site, the castle attracts organizers of various events, including jousting tournaments. Mir Castle has repeatedly been an object in which films were shot, starting from the times of the USSR.
After three hours spent in the castle and the surrounding area, having received a lot of impressions, we went for lunch at one of the local cafes.
Then we went to Nesvizh, where we booked a night at the Palace Hotel, which is located in one of the buildings at the palace and castle complex. Thus, I wanted to combine viewing the expositions of the complex and feel a little like the inhabitants of the palace.
After checking into the hotel, we received a parking space and a 24-hour pass to the complex. The palace and castle complex is an architectural structure surrounded around the perimeter by an earthen rampart and a moat filled with water. The Nesvizh complex with all its appearance and interior decoration is more like a palace than a castle.
On the evening of that day, there was a feeling of unreality, when we and several other couples of tourists who stayed overnight at the Palace Hotel walked in the park around the grounds and in the courtyards of the castle. If, instead of police officers, knights met at the central gate, it would be very cool!
Nesvizh Castle, like Mir Castle, was founded in the 16th century, and after passing into the possession of the Radziwills, it became their family nest. Around there is a beautiful park with a web of alleys and ponds.
The official opening of the complex after numerous historical upheavals and restorations took place only in 2012.
