Sao Paulo Cathedral is the main church of the city and one of the largest Catholic cathedrals in the world. The first temple on this site was built at the beginning of the 17th century and stood for 3 centuries. The new neo-Gothic cathedral was consecrated in 1954. It reaches a height of 111 meters and can accommodate up to 8,000 parishioners. The cathedral has a richly decorated interior and is finished with marble.
