The Sao Paulo Art Museum is located in the heart of the city. It was founded in 1947 and has been in its current building since 1968. The massive building in the shape of a parallelepiped rests on red columns and seems to hang above the ground. The museum contains a collection of more than 8 thousand exhibits - paintings and sculptures from Brazil, Asia and Africa. It also houses a large art library.
