Ipanema and Leblon are urban areas located nearby, separated by a narrow channel connecting the Rodrigode Freitas lagoon with the sea, with the beaches of the same name on their territory. Leblon is the richest and most expensive area, and the Ipanema area is the second most prosperous in Rio de Janeiro. Leblon is home to a large shopping center "Basket Leblon", which has an ice rink, a cinema and more than two hundred different shops. Ipanema has the largest and most luxurious shopping street in Rio, cultural and entertainment centers.
