There was once a monument to Lenin at this place, but in 2000 it was demolished and such a statue was placed here. Originally the statue was called "Hagia Sophia". However, according to the opinion of the people, a deep neckline, a laurel wreath and a tame owl, somehow did not go too well with the appearance of a saint. But the resourceful mayor did not lose his head and simply renamed the statue from Saint to Symbol. Now the "Symbol of Sofia" can be seen in the center, on Independence Square.→
