This temple is very ancient (6th century) and gave its name to the modern Bulgarian capital. In Roman times, the city was called Serdika, then Sredets, and from the 14th century. turned into Sophia. During Turkish rule, minarets were added to the church and it acted as a mosque. It has a rich history in general, it has experienced many destructions and reconstructions. Inside the church without decoration, icons are located right on the brick walls. And although it does not differ in rich decoration, some special atmosphere reigns there.→
