National Theater Ivan Vazov is the main dramatic stage in Sofia. Its building was built in 1906, but throughout the 20th century it was destroyed several times, but each time it was restored and reconstructed. The current building has baroque features with columns, sculptures, bas-reliefs and gilding. During its existence, the theater changed its name several times, but now it is named after the Bulgarian playwright Ivan Vazov. There are three halls in the theater building, which can simultaneously accommodate up to 1000 people. The repertoire of the Theater Ivan Vazov consists of works by Bulgarian classics and contemporary foreign playwrights.
