Central mineral baths in Sofia
Sofia Central Mineral Baths
Bulgaria, Sofia
Baths and baths have always been located on the site of the Central Mineral Baths in Sofia since the time of the Romans and Turkish rule. The modern building of the Central Mineral Baths was built in 1913 - it is richly decorated both outside and inside, elements of the Bulgarian and Byzantine styles can be traced in it. Once inside the building there were several pools with thermal water, and the walls were decorated with colored tiles and mosaics. The baths were badly damaged during the Second World War, but have been restored. They worked until 1986. For a long time they were closed, as they were in disrepair. In 2014, after extensive reconstruction, the Museum of the History of the City was opened here. Very close to the baths is a source of mineral water.
