The history of Obzor is about 3 thousand years old. The beginning of the city was the Thracian settlement of Navlachos. In the 1st millennium BC. Heliopolis (the city of the sun) was founded in its place by Greek settlers. After the conquest by the Romans in the 1st century BC. A temple to Jupiter was built there, and the city was named Theopolis (city of God) or Tempul Yovis (temple of Jupiter). The remains of this temple are still preserved in the city center.
