On the southern outskirts of the village of Kranevo, on a hill, there are the ruins of an ancient Roman fortress, to which the resort owes its name. The fortress was part of the coastal fortress system from Kaliakra to Mesemvria (Nessebar). From it there were only ruins overgrown with forests on the southern plateau, which rises above the resort.
