Liège-Guillemins train station

Liege-Guillemins Railway Station
Belgium, Liege
Liege-Guillemins railway station was officially opened in 1842, and already in 1843 the first international hub appeared here, linking Belgium and Germany. The station has been modernized and improved several times throughout its existence. The last major renovation took place in 2009, as a result of which the station completely changed its appearance. The new Liège-Guillemins building is made of steel, glass and white concrete in a futuristic architectural form.
Above the station is a huge 200-meter steel dome, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. There are 9 tracks and 5 platforms in Liege-Guillemins, about 35 thousand people use the station every day.

Most likely, this will be the first attraction that you will see in Liege, right out of the train. The station was under construction for almost 10 years and was opened in 2009. Architect Santiago Calatrava. A stunning structure that seems to be floating in the air. And when the lights are turned on in the evening, it seems that this is a fantastic waterfall. An ultra-modern building in which even part of the surface of the platforms is made of glass blocks. Glass, concrete, stone - and at the same time a feeling of airiness, freedom and openness.
