Built in the 14th century, the building was used by the Guild of Bakers for its intended purpose - they baked and sold bread here. The name "House of Kings" refers to the period of history of the 15th-16th centuries, when tax collectors were located here. Moreover, the "royal" version of the name of the house is only in French. The Dutch still call it "Bread House" (Broodhuis). The building was almost completely destroyed in the 18th century. After it was bought out by the city authorities and restored according to the project of the architect Victor Jamaer.→
