The Catholic Basilica of Sacré Coeur is located on the top of the Kukelberg hill in Elisabeth Park. It is the sixth largest Christian church in the world. King Leopold II, inspired by the Sacré-Coeur in Paris, decided to erect a pilgrimage church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the hill. The church was built in the 20th century. for nearly 70 years. Initially, it was conceived in the Neo-Gothic style, but due to lack of funds after the First World War, the project changed to Art Deco style. The height of the Basilica is 89 m, it has two towers and is crowned with a large green dome. The interiors of the church are minimalistic and decorated only with stained glass windows depicting the life of Jesus Christ. There is an observation platform under the dome at a height of 50 m. Also in the Basilica there is a Catholic radio station, a restaurant, a theater, two museums (the Museum of the Black Sisters and the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art) and even equipped places for training climbers and cavers.
