Queen Victoria building
Queen Victoria Building, QVB
Australia, Sydney
Queen Victoria House is a shopping center located in a magnificent neo-Romanesque building, built on the site of a former grocery market over five years and commissioned in 1898. The decision to name the building after Queen Victoria was made at the construction stage, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of her reign. This is reminiscent of a monument to the queen in front of one of the entrances to the shopping center. The Queen Victoria Building stands out for its domes, remarkable stained-glass windows, graceful lines and sumptuous interiors with mosaic floors, 19th-century staircases and royal hanging clocks. The Big Australian Clock is also installed here, showing visitors the history of the country in pictures. The Queen Victoria Building is one of the most modern and crowded shopping complexes in Sydney with branded stores, boutiques and cafes.
