Federation Square
Australia, Melbourne
Federation Square - a venue for cultural and social events in the central part of Melbourne, occupies an entire city block, bounded in the south by the Yarra River embankment. The irregularly shaped buildings surrounding the square, called "Shards", house offices, art galleries, a cinematography center, a museum, a tourist information center, restaurants and bars, and shops. The square, created in 2002 on an artificial platform on top of the railway tracks, is an undoubted architectural masterpiece and one of the main attractions of Melbourne.
