The Melbourne Museum is located in Carlton Gardens next to the
Royal Exhibition Centre. In the museum building, in addition to the main exhibitions, there are several auditoriums and theaters, a public research center, an IMAX cinema, a cafe and a gift shop. The expositions are placed in seven main galleries, a gallery for children under 8 years old, and in a special three-level gallery intended for temporary expositions.
The Science and Life Gallery, the most popular among visitors, exhibits skeletons of various dinosaurs, a pygmy blue whale, and some mammals. The Mind and Body and Evolution galleries tell about the structure of man and about changes in the human mind and body during evolution. "Forest Gallery" is dedicated to the nature of the forests of Australia, with live birds, reptiles and other fauna.
