The Royal Exhibition Center at Carlton Gardens was built in Victorian style in 1880 for the opening of the Melbourne International Exhibition. Since 1901, the Victorian government has been working in the building for 26 years. Since 1979, a museum center has been opened in the main building with a dome. In 2004, the Royal Exhibition Center with its adjacent park was awarded the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
