The wooden bridge at this place is first mentioned in documents from 1295. From the 15th century it became stone. In 1725 the chapel of St. John of Nepomuk was built on the bridge. In 1857-1858 it was rebuilt, while the chapel was preserved. In 1903 the old bridge was demolished. The Art Nouveau design was designed by Josef Hackhofer in 1903-1904. The construction was carried out by Waagner Biro and court architect Heinz Gerl. The grand opening of the bridge took place in the presence of Mayor Karl Luger.→
