Volksgarten park

Volksgarten, People's Garden, People's Garden
Austria, Vienna
Volksgarten is the oldest park in Vienna, it was opened in 1819 in the French style. The park is located near the New Hofburg Palace. The Volksgarten got its name because it was originally intended for the rest of aristocrats and wealthy citizens, who were the people in the understanding of Emperor Franz Joseph. It was the place where Johann Strauss held his concerts. The Volksgarten is full of green spaces of various forms, and its rose garden impresses with the number of varieties and various colors. The park is well maintained, there are many benches and fountains, several sculptures and ponds, as well as the Temple of Theseus (used as an exhibition space) - an exact copy of the same temple in Athens, and a white marble monument to Elizabeth of Bavaria. Among the many fountains, it is worth highlighting the "Triton and Nymph", depicting a beautiful girl escaping from the hands of a demon. Also in the park is the popular Volksgarten nightclub, which is also worthy of attention.

Volksgarten, ie "National Park", in my opinion, the most beautiful park in Vienna. It is located opposite the Parliament, across the Ringstrasse. Huge rosary, flower beds, trees, many places to relax. Temple of Theseus, monuments, fountains. And a very attractive, calm atmosphere, although the flow of traffic is raging near the Ring. I will write a separate review about the pearl of the park - the monument to Empress Sissy.

If you are walking around the center of Vienna and you want to relax, you can do it in one of the beautiful central city parks. And it's worth it: after all, in the Volksgarten park alone, 400 varieties of blooming roses await you in the spring. Did you know that the People's Park (Volksgarten) and the Palace Park (Burggarten) are recognized as world cultural heritage sites?
