St. Michael's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Vienna. The construction of the church began in 1221 by the monks of the Order of St. Michael. Originally a Romanesque building, it was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 16th century. And the church of St. Michael acquired its modern look after another restructuring in 1792.

Strict and simple-looking temple.
The three-nave basilica was founded in 1221 by monks of the Order of St. Michael. In the 14th century the church was expanded, and in the 16th century it was rebuilt in the Gothic style. From the 13th to the 18th century, the Michaellerkirche was one of Vienna's three parish churches, along with St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Scottish Monastery. The parish of Michaelerkirche included the imperial residence. In 1724-1725 the church acquired a baroque appearance. In 1792 the western facade was decorated in the classicist spirit.→

Urban architecture lovers
One of the oldest churches in Vienna is located on Michaelerplatz. It was here that Mozart's Requiem was first performed at his own funeral. Entrance to the church is free. The main impression of the interior decoration of the Michaelerkirche is the contrast between the strict vaulted arcades and the richest baroque altar. The church is surprisingly quiet and calm, so even if you are not very religious, come here to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. An option for the brave is a visit to the crypt.→
