Lake Wolfgangsee is located in the Salzkammergut region, on the border with Salzburg at the foot of the Schaffberg. The area of the lake is 13 sq. km, from which the river Ischl originates. The lake arose as a result of the melting of glaciers, so the water here is clear with a turquoise hue. The lake is home to a large number of fish, and there is also a steamboat line. On the banks of the Wolfgangsee there are several picturesque villages, which are very popular among tourists.
