Zillertal railway
Bahnhof Zillertalbahn
Austria, Mayrhofen
The 35 km narrow gauge railway connecting Mayrhofen and Jenbach was built in 1902. A pleasant entertainment for many tourists is to ride on a “nostalgic” train, where a real small steam locomotive of the beginning of the last century pulls old red trailers.
The maximum speed of the train is 32 km/h, which is ideal for taking a good look at the mountain landscape that opens from the windows of the train. You can take a ride on the steam locomotive of the Zillertal railway from May to October, in the winter months it is partially closed. But if you need to get from Mayrhofen to Jenbach or vice versa, regular buses and trains operate all year round.
