In 1908.2 architects Felmer and Gelmer began the construction of the Music and Drama Theater in Klagenfurt here. Built quickly in 2 years. It's amazing that they never repeat themselves in their creations. I saw their theaters more than once - in Chernivtsi, Odessa, Karlovy Vary. Here they created a theater in Art Nouveau. Unexpected for such a small Austrian town.

In the workshop of this great architectural duo and their assistants, more than 200 magnificent buildings were designed throughout Europe. Of these, about fifty are theaters. And let evil tongues call Felner and Gelmer monopolists ...every time I am amazed at how they managed to surprise with a new project every time. How did they not exhaust themselves, did not go into circulation and did not begin to plagiarize themselves?
Each time, the architects fit the building into the landscape of the area. In each city, the optimal shape and decor were selected for the building.
They changed the style, brought in a local flavor, and for all the spectacular buildings, they took into account another important point - acoustics.
Of course, we did not have time for a performance or a concert in Klagenfurt ...but we appreciated the beauty of the building.
