In the 15th century, Emperor Frederick the Third decided that the Schlossberg fortress on the mountain was too small for him and ordered the Burg Castle to be built for himself. Over the past centuries, the castle has been rebuilt many times and now little is left of it. The main attraction of Burg is the double spiral staircase (Doppelwendeltreppe). It was built back in 1499 during the time of Emperor Maximilian in the late Gothic style and is still considered an architectural masterpiece. Free admission.→
