The idea of ​​creating the Yerevan Zoo arose in the thirties, but construction began in 1941 according to the project of the famous Armenian architect Grigory Aghababyan. During the war, construction work was suspended. And only in 1950 the zoo received the first visitors.
The number of animals and birds in it was constantly growing, and the area was expanding. In 1954, 2,500 ornamental trees were planted on the territory of the zoo, as well as more than 3,000 bushes and other seedlings.
The zoo is almost seventy years old, and it is rightfully considered the pride of the Armenian capital.
Today, a variety of animals from various regions are collected here - approximately 2749 animals, 300 species (mammals, birds, invertebrates, reptiles, fish).

interesting only for babies up to a year
terrible! Almost nothing remained of the zoo, except for the name. Inspection of the "sight" takes 10 minutes - there are practically no animals, half of the territory is under repair, but the fee is charged at the full rate. I absolutely do not recommend!→

Interesting for kids and animal lovers
Even as a child, every summer there was an agreement with my uncle that, after picking apricots, he would take me and my sisters to Yerevan for a walk. The first thing that was definitely included in our plan was a visit to the Yerevan Zoo. And most often, we didn’t want to go anywhere else, but spent the whole day at the zoo. Still, a huge territory - 25 hectares, immersed in greenery, a large number of interesting familiar and unfamiliar animals, reptiles and insects (which I am still afraid of), birds, etc.→
