Sheikh Zayed Road is the main and longest street in Dubai, its length is 55 km. The road did not have an official name until 1990 and was popularly called the "Dubai-Abu Dhabi road". In the 90s of the twentieth century. the road was modernized and widened - all the roundabouts were replaced with multi-level ones - and it became a motorway. The highway was named after the first President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The street runs through the whole of Dubai along the coast, it is part of the E 11 highway, the largest in the UAE.

Dubai Metro line for a significant length of the road. A new business center of the city has formed along the street - here are the Emirates Towers, the World Trade Center and the Dubai Financial Center.
