Dubai Zoo, Dubai Zoo, Dubai Zoo
UAE, Dubai
The Dubai Zoo is located in Jumeirah, in a very green area. This is the oldest zoo not only in the UAE, but also on the Arabian Peninsula.
The history of the zoo began with a private collection of exotic animals located in a large garden. In 1971, it was transferred by the owner to the disposal of the municipality. Now the zoo covers an area of about 2 hectares.
Despite its modest size, the zoo gives shelter to about one and a half thousand animals and birds, including such "serious" ones as Syrian bears, chimpanzees, African lions and giraffes, Bengal tigers. In total, the zoo presents 9 species of large cats and 7 species of primates.
Here you can see the inhabitants of the desert, which were never lucky enough to see in Dubai in natural conditions: a sand snake, an Arabian rattlesnake, an eared vulture (the latter was caught in the Stone Mountains). A spacious aviary has been built for birds of prey.
The Dubai Zoo contains Arabian wolves, which are already completely exterminated and are found only in captivity. One can see Gordon's only wild cat living and breeding in captivity and a colony of So-Kotrian cormorants.
The Dubai Zoo was once recognized as the best zoo in the Middle East. In terms of cleanliness and internal organization, the Dubai menagerie is not inferior to the leading zoos in the world.

This is a huge research, educational and conservation project. The main objectives of the Safari Park are the conservation, protection and study of animals, birds, reptiles and other fauna from around the world. Love for our smaller brothers has always been inherent in the inhabitants of the UAE. No wonder the main symbols of the country are the camel, the falcon and the horse. The fauna of the Arabian Peninsula is not so rich, and the main asset is the representatives of the endangered Arabian leopard preserved in the Hadjar Mountains.

We had a wonderful rest. The alleys of the Dubai Zoo are by no means planted with palm trees, as one might assume when setting off to travel around the Emirates. Deciduous trees, familiar to Russians, grow in the Dubai Zoo. The Dubai Zoo is very comfortable: if you are tired of walking, you can sit on one of the many benches and continue to watch the animals. Interestingly, there is no specific system in the arrangement of enclosures at the Dubai Zoo. A chimpanzee can be seen next to the lion's cage.

Dirty, unkempt zoo. Aviaries with animals emit a terrible stench. It was very unpleasant to look at all this, and I didn’t want to be there, so I quickly retreated from the scene. I did not expect such a zoo to exist in such a country.
