Women's Crafts Center
Women's Craft Centre, Women Handicraft Centre, Women's Craft Center
UAE, Abu Dhabi
The Center for Women's Crafts was established in 1978 under the Women's Association of the United Arab Emirates and is funded by the state. Its activities are aimed at the revival, development and preservation of the cultural heritage of the country. Here, in four round buildings, about 130 craftswomen work, who are engaged in weaving, embroidery, sewing, basket making and other needlework.
The center has organized an exhibition-museum with the best samples of products: bags and blankets for camels; items decorated with embroidery; tapestries; palm mats; festive women's dresses embroidered with gold and silver; shawls and scarves; pottery; rugs; painted trays and coffee pots, etc.
Visitors to the center will be able to get a temporary henna tattoo with a traditional Arabic pattern here. The Center has a souvenir shop where you can buy handicrafts made by local craftswomen.
