Al Husn Palace, also known as the Old or White Fort, is the oldest architectural structure in the capital, where the age of old buildings does not exceed 30 years. In the past, the fort served as the residence of the rulers of Abu Dhabi. And although the interior of the palace is completely renovated, but even today you can find some details of the interior decoration, which are over 100 years old.
Visitors are not allowed into the internal structures of the fort (the former residence of the rulers). Tourists can wander along the walls of the fort and climb the observation tower
Now the building houses the Cultural Foundation: a research center, a repository of historical documents and manuscripts, a library with a book fund of more than 2 million items, auditoriums accommodating more than 1000 people, exhibition halls. The building of the Cultural Foundation annually hosts a book fair, a film festival, where mostly English films are broadcast.
