Church of Saint Miguel
St Miguel Church
Andorra, Andorra la Vella
The Church of St. Miguel is located on the plateau d'Engolasters, which offers a beautiful view of the entire Andorran valley. Approximately, the church, made in the Romanesque style, was built in the XII century. Inside, it is decorated with wooden carvings, and its vaults and altar were previously decorated with frescoes with biblical scenes.
A significant architectural element of the church is a rectangular three-story bell tower with double windows. Lombard arches adorn the windows, and above the window arches on the third floor are sculptures of human heads. The church contains reproductions of wall paintings that once adorned the walls and vaults of the church. The original paintings are kept in the Museum of National Art of Catalonia in Barcelona.
