Tulip Park: a spring fairy tale

Keukenhof is a unique flower park in the Netherlands. It is filled with blooming tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, freesias, orchids and other bulbous plants. Keukenhof is the pride of the royal house of the Netherlands and the national treasure of the country. It is the largest bulb flower park - 7 million bulbs are planted by hand - and the most photographed place in the world. "Keukenhof" means "kitchen garden". The history of its origin dates back to the 15th century, when Countess Jacoba van Beieren ordered a garden to be planted next to her castle in order to always have fresh herbs in her kitchen. The first flower show was organized in 1949 at the initiative of the Mayor of Lisse and a number of leading flower growers and has since become a tradition. Every year, more than two million people from all over the world come to admire the fabulous beauty of this place. The ideal order in the park is maintained by the painstaking work of professionals in their field: breeders, garden architects and landscape designers. . And numerous visitors to Keukenhof prefer to speak here in muffled voices so as not to disturb the harmony and charm of the surrounding splendor.
