And we even regretted a little that we had somehow bypassed this country before, because staying in it completely eclipsed all previous travels with the exception of perhaps the Maldives. I won’t talk much about heavy flights, but I will please smokers travelers - smoking areas have finally appeared at CH. de Gaulle airport! Mexican customs met quite friendly, although in many reviews I read that they carp very much and all that... And I almost forgot, if you fly not on a direct flight to Cancun, but through Mexico City (as we did), do not bring alcohol with duty free, even in a sealed bag, they will force you to throw it away. At the Cancun airport, all the formalities went through pretty quickly and within 45 minutes we got on an excellent road to the RIU PALACE MEXICO hotel we chose, which is located in the town of Playa - Del Carmen. I liked the hotel immediately and unconditionally! The receptionist on duty took me to room 0084, large, spacious and a little with a smell of dampness, and it was immediately agreed that we would change the room tomorrow, because it was three in the morning, Omar was clear to us explained to whom to approach and when. We had a bite with my son at the buffet, which is open around the clock and the next day we were offered a choice of two rooms, one with a view of the garden, the other with a view of the fountain, we settled on the second option and did not regret it at all, so the room had a huge balcony from which the entire hotel had excellent views of palm trees and fountains. True, there was an open terrace below us where the artists performed, but this did not bother us at all, because the soundproofing in the room is excellent and we rarely visited the room before 12 o'clock , but what can I say for the entire stay at the hotel, we never turned on the TV! Room 2072. I will not dwell on the description of the room, all this has already been done before me, the rooms are really sunrise, but I still can’t understand why an open bath is needed there, some strange whim of the designer. Somewhere on the second day the iron went haywire, three minutes after the call they brought a new one. Every evening the maid on duty asks if anything is needed Someday, additional towels are laid down. Various bears-swans are molded there from towels and flower petals.

Reception; nice, smiling, friendly, ALWAYS solve or almost solve the slightest problems, I especially want to mention the lovely ALICIA (Russian speaking), who will tell you and advise on excursions how to explore local attractions cheaper and in depth and which restaurant in the town is best to go to and much, much more.

Beach; a lot has already been written, I join the most positive reviews, but at that time (12.05-26.05) there was unfortunately a lot of algae, with which the staff selflessly fought... and not without success. The water is warm, transparent, beautiful, a lot of fish , which many periodically fed and they arranged a real carousel. Approximately 1 km from the hotel beach there is a small reef, so there the water is generally amazingly clean and there are many different fish swimming, a good place for free snorkeling, which is not worse than offered on the hotel beach for $ 45. On the beach, a charming girl Diana bought fishing ($ 234) for a boat designed for 4 people. We were together with my son (16 years old). and a small barracuda. They would have caught more, but the weather was bad, it was very stormy. And fishing is many times better than in Cuba, although it is half the price.

The restaurants of the hotel are all generally good, but I liked the most in Japanese (there were 2 times) and in Mexican because of the excellent head waiter Francisco, although the food is somewhat specific, but the interior and service are excellent! "Crystal" is also not bad, although a few pompously. But the much-praised Steak House made an unpleasant impression, and not only because the lobsters announced on the menu were not there at all, but because the service there was rude and familiar, they left malnourished and did not leave a tip. Breakfasts in the main restaurant ( don julian it seems? ) excellent, the assortment for breakfast is just huge, dinner takes place there and this abundance cannot be described in a nutshell! But there were some difficulties with lunch. there are no complaints about the menu, but for some reason the service was terrible. The waiters, as a rule, "hooked" on large companies and did not care about the rest of the visitors. Many people and beer they poured it themselves, but you couldn’t wait for the wine at all. I don’t even want to talk about cleaning the tables! That’s probably the only drawback (in my opinion, perhaps somewhat subjective understanding) of this beautiful hotel. In the evenings, interesting performances of very good artists are held, the waiters try, although our son was a little bored and he ran to the neighboring Riu tequila - that's where the real shaman is really, but the drinks there are of lower quality, when I asked to pour me a Chivas Regal (which is a common thing in a palace), they looked at me with surprise and noticed a Palasovsky bracelet Ballentine was offered… I really liked the interior of the tequila, although I think that this hotel is exclusively for young people and cannot be compared with the chic PALACE!
