Wonderful country, Mexico!!!
A trip to Mexico is quite a serious event! Take at least one flight - there on two planes, back on three (from Cancun). Flights with waiting at transfer points take more than a day. Therefore, you need to be ready for this and put on comfortable shoes and clothes, take the things you need on the plane and don’t regret anything else : -).
And be attentive to your tickets, take care of them like "the apple of your eye"! . We had a transplant in Madrid and by mistake, of course (I hope that it was not malicious intent! ) At two o'clock in the morning, an airline employee took the ticket instead of a boarding pass, and did not give it back. They tried to ask in a good way (in Spanish, in English), then almost a fight, but the doors of the plane were closing and we had to leave in a bad mood, with bruises and with undisguised horror - "But what about going back? " (I didn’t want to pay a lot money for the ticket, because they never gave a duplicate).
As a result, in Cancun they forced me to go to the police to give a bribe (5 dollars) and write a statement about this story, and only then, the Iberia company issued a duplicate ticket for 80 dollars. Like this! (in Moscow, they later found out that they had to issue a duplicate for free, but they wanted to fly home so much that they spared no expense, if only they registered for the flight (they register once, for three planes at once) and go home! ).
Of course, there were other negative moments on the trip that have already been almost forgotten, but they must be noted in order to know what is there, over 10.000 thousand km you can expect. Our tour consisted of two weeks, the first of which was a transfer from Mexico City to Cancun with all the cultural visits required by the program. We were in a group of 9 people and we were given a small bus in which we fit almost with difficulty (three rows of seats, in place of the fourth - luggage). We tried to go on strike a little, because
European people are inherently taller than Mexicans and we had no idea how it would be possible to squeeze into this minibus, and even ride it for almost 2000 km. We were told that if there were 10 of us, then things would be put upstairs and the 4th row would be inserted. So the strike failed - they sat shoulder to shoulder, closely pressing their knees to each other (honestly, it’s not easy to go, it’s hard). It was not possible to sleep in any way, the roads are bad, although paid, the bumps are all ours, and there is nowhere to put or lean your head - this is not provided for in this bus. Why did I pay so much attention to this issue - without exception, all the people in the group (they were from Lithuania, Latvia, different cities of Russia) were promised a comfortable bus, and to our misfortune we saw such people around the country (Americans and Europeans traveled on such! ).
The second negative point is when, after a long journey, we arrived in Cancun at the Oasis Cancun hotel (there are 4 and 5 stars together), we saw towering construction cranes above our four star buildings and other trinkets of rapid construction. In general, this hotel was rebuilt! If you were in the building during the day, you constantly heard the strongest construction noise (a 5th floor was built above the 4-storey buildings, and you live in this building, is it normal? so come to relax and build all day? ). In general, no one in Moscow even said about it!
On the penultimate day, we were awakened at 3 am by a loud conversation under our door, it turns out that in our room and in others there was also a flood (ankle-deep! ) and the guards simply drove the water away from under our doors. But most importantly, the Yucatan people are so leisurely that they only left us the next day at 3 pm (after a dozen requests! ).
There is mold everywhere in the room - both on the curtains and in the paintings, etc.
It is not clear whether this is still left from the hurricane or whether it is new fresh mold.
Despite all of the above, both the country and the people - everything is super!
There was no more negativity - they didn’t steal anything, didn’t bite, didn’t get poisoned, in general, observing certain safety measures, you will have a wonderful vacation in this tropical country!
It rained every day (when they flew from Madrid, then all the way - 12 hours - there was a thunderstorm with lightning and thunder overboard, impressive! ). But the rains were warm and the thunderstorm was mostly when we were driving in our minibus. And when we walked along the street, they did not disturb us. Everything dries up in a moment and the humidity is in the air, just amazing. Therefore, the selva is there with lush vegetation!
Be sure to protect yourself with sunscreen even on cloudy days. Otherwise, burn! Very active sun.
All architectural objects are impressive - pyramids, colonial cities, temples, Olmec heads, etc.
The people we met were remarkably friendly. There are very few white people traveling around the country, so you are always in the spotlight, but not active as in Arab countries, for example.
The food is specific, but in general, I liked it. If you don't want to, then don't eat spicy food. But why not try the mole chocolate hot sauce with meat dishes, it's original!
Holidays in Cancun are amazing. For some reason, it stomps so much there, especially in the evening (maybe the time difference is 9 hours, maybe a humid climate and hot weather) - you don’t want to do anything. True, they tried to go to the most popular Poco Bongo disco (and expensive too! ) and were shocked, to put it mildly, how Americans relax. American Resort! The bar is free, they get drunk, the music sucks and the show goes on as they like, people in disguise impersonate Jackson, Aguilera, from the movie The Mask, The Matrix and other characters to the appropriate music.
Everyone whistles, yells, but what about dancing - they are not the main part of the program here!
There are really strong waves in the Caribbean Sea, so it’s better not to risk anyone who has problems, even near the coast (don’t believe it, you can experience it for yourself). But we liked it ( we are friends with sports! ) - it was great invigorating and you could even sometimes get worried when you were so covered by a wave that it seems to go crazy, but life is beautiful and you can do it wonderfully. Only we swam far, foreigners, as always, sit by the pool or try to drive fat off the coast. The food was all inclusive, so we did not know any problems with food. Cheap and cheerful! Cancun is not a cheap resort!
Basically, I'm done. I have never read this from anyone. These moments should have been noted, after all, the road is long and the journey is grandiose, and everyone must decide for himself what is acceptable to him and what is not!
