The question lies in the plane of matching the high cost of the tour, the long journey and the high expectations that we have formed for a long time and, mainly, according to the breathtaking pictures and rave reviews from tourists. So, one weekly Maldives was bought at the price of 4 Greece. Will I get what I expect in return? Or, in order not to look like a fool, will I later write that the Maldives is really a “paradise” and I don’t feel sorry for any money?

Having rested in Sri Lanka in January 2014, we were very sorry that we did not quite correctly calculate our trip then, which could include a visit to the Maldives - only 700 km from the former island of Ceylon. We really liked our vacation in this country, but the 24-hour road "killed" for a long time the desire to repeat the path to other islands of the Indian Ocean.
And here again the long road ...in search of "paradise" or in the elimination of his "quirk".
Year 2016 January 23rd, Moscow, empty Vnukovo, Boeing a / c Fly Dubai.
Tour operator Natalie Tours. 5 hours to Dubai, transfer and another 4 hours to Male. The time difference with Moscow is 2 hours. Boat from the airport to the island 35 minutes. In the morning at 10 o'clock we are at the hotel. Check-in was promised at 13:00.
The plane flew back through Colombo, which was a complete surprise for us. Before Colombo 1 hour flight, did not leave the plane. For those who flew to Colombo from Dubai, it seems that the landing in Male was also not scheduled? Excuse me, but where are you flying, one polite man asked me on the plane?
So, for those who do not read reviews - immediately conclusions, for the rest - a very detailed report?
FINDINGS.
Hotel Adaaran Club Rannalhi, 4 * is, of course, a budget hotel for the Maldives.
I understand that there are more beautiful hotels, reefs, etc. , but for the first time visiting the Maldives (or even the only one) - I recommend it unconditionally!
It has everything that is inherent in the real Maldives - this is a resort hotel (island hotel), there is a beautiful reef, a beach, a turquoise warm sea.
Good food, excellent service.
And if, suddenly, someone gets bored, I advise you to urgently go snorkeling and diving.
Unfortunately, we could not get on the excursions - we realized it late, at first the group was not recruited, and then Friday is a day off.
But maybe this is good, less worries - the Fihalhohi hotel is nearby and according to the description it is better than Adaaran?
So, I have already got rid of my "quirk", of all my doubts. A beautiful aquarium with fish now “lives” in my head, and a passion for the Maldives has settled in my soul.
I confirm - is the Maldives a good place for paradise? And our trip to the Maldives today is in first place among all previous trips. Well, maybe shares the first or second place with New Zealand.

Did my daughter even cry when we were on the boat to the airport?
And this time the long road went unnoticed, the impressions of the rest turned out to be so strong.
"DESIGN OF THE ISLAND - HOTEL".
The island is small 370 by 130 m. It is stretched from east to west. Along the perimeter of the island on the south side of the island there are 11.2-storey houses with 4 rooms each, two on the first and two on the second floors (No. 101 - 122 first floor and 201-222 - second floor) and 13 houses on the north side - No. -125-150 (225-250). DBL + EXB rooms are mostly on the first floors.
Inside the island, behind a high fence, there are residential and technical rooms of the hotel. I did not hear any noise from the devices, but sometimes there are smells.
All waste products are not dumped into the ocean, but accumulate in those. zone and then taken out on barges or pumped out through pipes. And this happens in the area of the technical pier, which is located in the center of the island on the north side.
All rooms have a direct sea view and are located 10-15 meters from the shore, but due to the dense vegetation of the sea, you can hardly see it.
In the eastern part of the island there is a passenger pier, a reception, a diving center, a Main Cocktail bar with a platform on stilts, a restaurant, a couple of souvenir shops, a water sports center, and a center for traditional Chinese medicine. Here is the largest and most beautiful sandy beach, volleyball and games grounds. In the evening - a disco club on the beach.
In the western part of the island there are 15 bungalows on stilts, a spa center and another bar with a platform on the seashore.
In front of each house there is a private beach area. On the southern part of the island there are concrete breakwaters, which, by their appearance, slightly violate the natural beauty of the coast. In many places, the coastline is fortified with sandbags; otherwise, one strong storm will be enough and all the trees, along with the coastline, will be washed into the sea.

Gifts can be purchased in 2 small shops and an art store (paintings sold by the artist himself). The prices for the paintings are very reasonable. Only once a week 15-20% discount. There will be an advertisement on your table in the restaurant that day.
CHOOSE THE PERFECT ROOM.
It is useless to write on the website of the hotel or TopHotels with a request to reserve the room you like - you will only get a polite answer.
Room assignment is done prior to arrival at the hotel. At the reception, they immediately give out a questionnaire, which must be filled out and the room number is already indicated in it. No one speaks Russian in the hotel.
As in any hotel, this hotel has not very good rooms.
It is advisable to take rooms on the second floor, which have a large veranda. And although there are few people on the island, the inconvenience inherent in the first floor may not suit someone.
Below us on the first floor in a week were replaced 4 times living.
It is recommended to go snorkeling there.
On the north side, the weather is more comfortable - a cool wind blows constantly and you do not have to turn on the air conditioner at night. It is enough to open the doors to the veranda.
We lived on the south side (the second house), turned off the air conditioner at night and opened the doors. Sleep like you're on the beach.
Mosquitoes did not disturb, but one night a few flew in.
There is a fumigator in the room.
Print out a map of the island with the numbers of the houses indicated on it and you will be protected. This is what happened to us - they offered not the best option at all. But we had a map, a bit of perseverance and "polite interest"? At 14 o'clock we were in a beautiful room as we wanted.
The room is large, good condition, there is a safe, TV with ORT channel, air conditioning works fine, ceiling fan.
BEACHES AND LAGOON.
The beaches have almost the same width around the entire circumference of the island.
But the width of the lagoon (shallow part) is much larger in the southern part. There, accordingly, it is more convenient and safer to swim, especially for children.
The most luxurious beach on the eastern part of the island, near the diving center and the main bar. Real Maldives as in the pictures.

An excellent beach on the north side, closer to the bungalows (No. 125 - 140 and 225 - 240, respectively).
Sun loungers are freely available around the perimeter of the island. It is more convenient for someone to relax next to the house, but we spent all the time on the beach at the main bar. There are no problems with sunbeds.
WEATHER AND CLOTHING.
It is hot, but comfortable - in the daytime up to +31, in the evening + 28. The rains are short, powerful and bring only the joy of coolness. There are large umbrellas in the closet in the room.
A refreshing breeze blows constantly. The humidity was very high on some days. The tiled floor in the room will always be damp if you do not turn on the air conditioner.
Dress code - everywhere barefoot, except for the restaurant.
The sand is not hot even at noon.
Girls in high heels look ridiculous. An evening dress without shoes is the style of the hotel in the evening.
The sea is warm, swimming without time limits.
High and low tides up to 1 meter. It is advisable to go into the sea in slippers until you explore the bathing area. Lots of sharp pieces of broken corals on the bottom.
Not a single printed weather forecast converged. It is probably possible to draw a general conclusion that the weather in the Maldives at this time is not bad.
But, of course, you need to keep the weather in mind when planning excursions. Still the ocean.
ENTERTAINMENT.
In the morning - at sunrise (=6.30) and in the evening at sunset (=18.30) - watching sharks. They go in flocks around the island, more often on the south side and in the area of all piers and bungalows.
Two species of sharks were observed - reef sharks - up to 1.5 meters long and others large and thick - up to 2 meters. There were no sharks during the day. Sharks don't bite? (see the second part of the video).
Stingrays, crabs, various large and small fish - there is fun everywhere in the water.
In the afternoon - excursions, snorkeling, boards, canoes, etc. at the Water Sports Centre.

By the way, there are no “advertisers” on the island at all - all advertising is only on the stands and registration for all events is done independently.
Diving at Diving School.
Rent a full set for snorkeling for a day - $10, for a week - $50.
Incomplete set - $7 ($35) respectively.
In the evening - sunsets and live music in the main bar (keyboards and guitarist) - very pleasant music.
Karaoke in the absence of a Russian tourist is very weak. All week, only two Russian songs sounded in the bar - “Tsunami” from Nyusha (well, you can still understand this), but what does “Minibus” from Iowa have to do with it? ?
Every day two hours at the bar - "happy hour" - two cocktails for the price of one. This is probably true, especially for girls, since the hotel serves wine only in the restaurant for lunch and dinner in glasses (with ALL meals). Bars offer beer and spirits.
DIVING AND SNORKLING.
Upon arrival at the hotel, you will receive a map of the island with diving and snorkeling sites marked on it.
I dedicate a separate “song” to snorkeling.
When you first go out on the reef, you experience a terrible delight!
What is there to hide and fear too. Then you get used to it?
Real beauty begins at the very edge of the coral island, where it breaks off with a sheer coral rock down, where the abyss begins.
It is worth seeing once and you are in the slavery of this beauty for life.
This is what people fly here for, this is the truth of the Maldives. Yes, the white sand and the clear turquoise sea are amazing too, but you won't get the full picture of the Maldives if you don't see the underwater world of the island, its stunning reefs.
Snorkeling in the lagoon is also an interesting activity, but snorkeling on the reef is two very different things.
On the second, third day you become an "addict" of this activity. I want more and more.
Deeper and further. New reefs. It's impossible to stop.
How to live on without a reef, without the Maldives? Do you need to rob someone? and come back here?
My wife resisted for a long time, but when I dragged her "by force" to the reef, she was very grateful to me for seeing this abyss and this "aquarium".

RULES OF SNORKLING AND ROUTES.
Firstly, for $30 you can read a lecture on snorkeling and then organize excursions to the most beautiful places and Coral Garden.
There are signs everywhere on the island that your swimming is at your own risk. There are no lifeguards, no buoys on the island. Nobody is watching you.
Therefore, when snorkeling, you need to know a few rules for this lesson:
- study the recommended routes (issued upon arrival) and currents
- it is better to swim at high tide, since it is difficult to find a return entry into the lagoon from the reef - corals are very close above the water surface or you need to decide in advance on the entry point
- you need to swim in a life jacket (there is in every room), however, you can no longer dive with it
- if you swim for a long time, your back and legs will be badly burned - protect yourself from the sun with T-shirts and suits
- don't swim alone
We walked along a very convenient route - straight from the mooring pier into the water - the reef immediately begins there and along the reef clockwise along the south coast downstream to the bungalows.
Swimming is easy - you just need to “hang” and sometimes taxi up to an interesting place, and the current will carry you.
For starters, you can shorten the route from the pier to 2 buoys, which show the entrance from the reef to the lagoon.
Turn around and try to swim in the opposite direction - you will immediately feel the difference.
LIFE ON THE ISLAND.
Represented by the ubiquitous crows, flying foxes, herons and smaller birds.
Herons are very "tame" and swear loudly - they quack when you get very close to them.
They walk between the houses and catch small fish on the beach.
There are few ravens, but they are very "thieving" and hunt in the main bar - they steal everything that is left unattended from the tables. They brazenly "took away" two packages of salted fish from us while we went for beer.
Flying foxes squeal very loudly and disgustingly.

At night and in the morning, other birds “do not sleep” - they yell so that the first days woke up from their “roll call”.
There are also big cockroaches. They live, as I understand it, in the zone behind the fence, but when they are poisoned there, they run half-dead from the zone and are already dying near the houses. The strongest even manage to climb a little stairs to the second floor. To tell the truth, we saw these cockroaches only once - on the day of the persecution. The rest of the time they are not.
Small lizards in the evening are sure to gather near the front door of the room. Sometimes they run into the room.
CHINESE AND CHILDREN.
Having read reviews about the “Chinese Maldives”, we were ready for this, but when at the airport, when landing on two boats, there were 30 Chinese in it, and only one of our families and another young couple, did we realize that we had “hit”?
In fact, everything happened the other way around - the Chinese turned out to be very calm, polite and decent people. A little wild, but I did not notice any deviations in their behavior.
They did not particularly appear in the bars and imperceptibly disappeared around the island.
It seems that about the Chinese - this is a fable. At the very least, it's stupid not to go to this hotel because of the Chinese.
After 4 days, all the Chinese left and a large group of Indians came to replace them.
And so this hotel was mainly occupied by Italians, French, British (many), the rest - few. There were few Russians. I met the first Russian only on the second day in a restaurant, when he “intelligibly” made an order with two fingers to the cook for fried eggs from two eggs?
By the presence of relevant channels on TV, you can determine from which countries tourists come here.
There are practically no children in the hotel. Lots of elderly and middle aged tourists. There are also many young couples.
We were very surprised by an elderly couple (both are already exactly over 80), they waddled, and "snorkeled" every day in full gear, and then sat in the bar and sipped cocktails.

From the island of Maafushi, tourists arrive at the hotel every morning for an excursion, there are few of them and they do not make “weather”. They mostly spend all their time in a bar, since they don’t sell alcohol anywhere in Male, except for hotels.
NUTRITION.
For the rest of your stay, you are assigned a table in a restaurant and a waiter who brings you drinks. Alcohol can only be ordered through the waiter. Wine white and red, not bad.
Breakfasts are just great - juice, cereals, bacon, etc.
Lunch, dinner - without delicacies and first you need to taste, then dial.
in a restaurant it costs $26, if lunch is ALL, you still need to pay 3.5 euros.
Is there a fine for taking food out of a restaurant? Strictly?
MONEY AND PRICES.
It is not necessary to change the currency to local rufiyaa.
Everywhere on the territory of the hotel "cash" does not go. A credit line of up to $500 is opened for the room, and you make all purchases with the issuance of a check for you, and the payment is made at the reception in cash or by bank card.
To all prices, you must also add a 10% service charge and 12% - state. tax.
Bar prices:
- water 1.5 liters = $2
- beer (0.33 l) = $5-7
- whiskey, vodka, rum (50g) = $6-8 and more
- snacks = $14-18
- cocktails - $8-12
- cigarettes - $6.5
- tea, coffee + cookie = $5
- extension of the room (late check-out for 3 hours) = $ 75
- 5 hour extension = $100
- excursion to 2 resort islands + about. Guraidhoo = $56
-excursion to the island Maafushi = $46
- late cancellation of the excursion - a fine in the amount of the cost
- Internet - $ 37 for a week (available at the reception, in bars, bungalows)
And many more different fines - for feeding the fish, for breaking the coral, etc.
It is not clear who monitors this, but I think that no one will discuss fines with you, and when you leave, they will simply issue a fine and will not let you out until you pay it.
- 2 hours diving (instruction + 45 min underwater) = $135
- fine for losing the room key - $100, beach towels - $20
