Lovely day in Macedonia
A beautiful day in Macedonia
We spent three days in Bulgaria, filled with a wide variety of events, which we talked about in a previous publication. This is, wow, emotionally energizing, but, frankly, somewhat tiring. But with a new day, we felt a surge of new strength! Tuesday, October 27th. Early in the morning we rushed to Macedonia!
Before us lay a path of almost 300 kilometers to Skopje, and it began with a thick Bulgarian fog... Soviet Zhiguli (! ) periodically "floated" through it (! ), In some places there were traces of the Turkish presence (a dilapidated mosque), then typical Macedonian landscapes - villages on the hills, they seemed to float in the air... Fabulous...
We were in the capital of Macedonia at about two o'clock in the afternoon and immediately went to a meeting at the Embassy of Ukraine. Despite the fact that we arrived earlier than the appointed time, we were immediately received, given tea, surrounded by attention from almost all the employees of the embassy. Even in the traditional photo with the flag, you can see how warm and hospitable the atmosphere was...
Here we met a wonderful woman - a Macedonian writer of Ukrainian origin Vera. She also got a souvenir from her homeland - a motanka doll, which was made by a Dnepropetrovsk craftswoman.
We were very pleased to learn that although the Ukrainian diaspora in Macedonia is small (about 300 people), it is very active. A lot of work is being done here to acquaint local residents with Ukraine, its traditions and modern culture.
The visit turned out to be very sincere, but we did not have time to get acquainted with the city itself. What a pity. . . After leaving the Embassy, we immediately jumped into the car and went to Montenegro. And we didn’t even suspect what a surprise the road had prepared for us!
On the way we met an interesting restaurant. We can't help but share our admiration for dinner in it: we tried a special dish - baked meat in Kosovo. If you have the opportunity to try this - we recommend it, you will not regret it!
