a small resort town with an airport and a port where expensive yachts are "parked". Planes fly right over the bay, not to say that it interferes, but do not expect silence, since all flights take place during the day. There are no special attractions in Tivat. On the "promenade" among dozens of restaurants there are a couple of youth cafes, but in general, IMHO a town for a relaxing holiday, young people will be bored here. Go to the port to see the yachts and the city park. The streets are tight. Kotor is only 15 minutes by bus - taxi through the tunnel. Go there for sure. Budva - 40 minutes by bus - I will not describe - there are many reviews.
About the hotel:
"Palma", declared 3 stars, where I did not understand these 3 *, we were a rather large group, I saw several rooms, more or less close to 3 * only that the hotel is positioned as a "suite" - there is air conditioning, larger rooms, view of the bay. Everything else IMHO UZHOOOOS!! ! the rooms are microscopic, if there are three in the room, then 40 centimeters remain for the passages. TVs are not in all rooms, but there is no sense where there is a small-collective antenna, and nothing but interference is caught on the "horns". Refrigerators are also not in all rooms. Shower "cabins" for the most part without doors, a watering can - a pipe from the wall at a height of 2 meters, if you want to wash your ass, you can stand on your head in the booth or depict a "birch tree". There is no hair dryer, clothes can be dried only in those rooms where there is a balcony. In general - a typical city hotel where 100% of the land is occupied by the building itself and a cafe in front of the entrance. The hotel does not have a single centimeter of its own territory. There is a bar in the lobby (beer 1.8 euros, cappuccino 1.5 euros), a public computer and Wi-Fi which is turned off at 23.00. I almost forgot. . . there is an iron in the hotel. ONE!! ! We didn't get it for 2 weeks. Queue to sign up for the reception.
There is no stated parking - you can leave your car in the alleys behind the hotel if you find a place.
Nutrition:
for the declared level, in principle, it’s normal, from the “continental” breakfast “sausages-omelette-yogurt-muesli” in a week, of course, you’ll get fucked up but edible, in the evening it’s more or less varied: 1 type of soup, 2-3 meat dishes, occasionally fish, 2-3 garnish, vegetable salads. For dessert, 1 type of fruit and 1 type of biscuit rolls. What surprised: in the evening there are no drinks in the restaurant, except for tap water, even for money - if you want tea - eat in the restaurant - then go to the lobby bar to drink coffee and tea. Paid restaurant at the hotel is expensive and IMHO bespontovy. If you buy a ticket, think carefully about whether to pay for food, because in the district 5-7 minutes on foot there are TENS of restaurants and cafes working from morning to night. Take a walk around the area - you can choose places much more interesting. If a pizzeria, then for 20-25 euros a lunch for three (2 adults + a child) with drinks, eat together in fish, leave somewhere around 40 euros. Nearby there are shops - booze / food there is understandably 2 times cheaper.
Beach-sea:
There is no private beach - LIES! But right in front of the hotel is the municipal beach. From the exit from the hotel to the sea in a straight line 10-15 meters. And this place is really the best place for swimming in the area. The beach itself is 70 meters of a concrete slab with a width of 4 to 15 m and 1.5-2 meters of pebbles in front of it for 30 meters, sun loungers are paid, there is a shower and changing cabins. The sea, of course, is not a sea, but a bay - the opposite coast is probably a kilometer or two. Surrounded by mountains, respectively, there are practically no waves, half of the rest is water in general like a mirror. The water is coldish 22-25 degrees, the entrance is pebbly. There are quite a lot of fish in the water, but almost completely without coloring, the pier is overgrown with mussels, there are small crabs and hermit crabs, I did not see sea urchins.
Excursions:
in the hotel offers in bulk. We traveled by bus to Budva-St. Stefan, by parachute to Kotor and back through the tunnel by bus, swept inland to Podgorica. I will not give any comments, nothing special, but overall I liked it.
OUTPUT:
Montenegro is a rather poor country adapted rather for a "savage" holiday. Ticket from Moscow and back 16 sput. Rent a kopeck piece with furnishings and air conditioning in Tivat 10 minutes from the sea 600 euros per month. You can travel around the country by car or motorcycle in 3-4 days. As for the hotel Palma, Tivat (Palma, Tivat) *** I will say that the hotel is for very unpretentious people who are only going to spend the night in it.
The choice was between Petrovac and Tivat, as a result, the latter was chosen due to its more convenient location (nearby one of the 2 state international airports (another one in Podgorica), convenience in planning excursions) and good price / quality ratio.
We had a transfer from the airport to the Palma hotel. Just 5-7 minutes to go. The car from the hotel was surprisingly very decent.
The hotel is located very conveniently - not only is the beach 5 meters from the entrance, but also the water is warm and very clean in the bay. Some people don't like the beach. We went down a small ladder from concrete slabs straight into clear blue water, to the right of the slabs there was a kind of beach - well, like a children's paddling pool with pebbles.
About the hotel - the staff is very friendly, it is clear that for them you are not a visiting cash cow. The rooms are tolerable . . Depending on what you get - the doors may be old, the walls of one may not be near the shower, the TV is not particularly shown. So if you came here for outdoor activities and do not intend to spend your vacation in the room, then this hotel is for you - the money saved on the hotel is better spent on excursions, trips and restaurants.
The rooms were cleaned every day, the linen was changed every 3 days, the cleaners are great - they perform their duties well and the valuables lying on the bedside tables did not disappear - they left a tip when they left.
Tomorrow and dinner (continental) were included with accommodation. The food was not particularly whimsical. Breakfast is not varied - sausages, scrambled eggs, all sorts of eurocream, buns. You won't die of hunger. Dinner is more varied - fresh fruits, delicious cakes, and several types of hot dishes and side dishes. Without much frills - normal tasty food for a solid 4 - everything is fresh - this is not Turkey for you.
There is Wi-Fi in the lobby and there is a computer (one) with an Internet connection.
We dined in restaurants - the meat is prepared amazingly, the seafood is fresh. Portions are large and inexpensive. 25-40 euros for two for lunch. You can eat local fast food and pizzas - it will be cheaper. The concept of a hamburger here is a huge cutlet with vegetables, with whatever you want for a few euros.
We went to Croatia (Dubrovnik), Bosnia (Trebinje), Skadar Lake (located on the border of Montenegro and Albania), Kotor (a stunningly beautiful place), rode a pleasure boat around the Bay of Kotor, swam in Zhannitsa on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, we went to Budva a couple of times, visited Herceg Novi, rented a boat and rode to the Island of Flowers.
Enough has been written about all these places on the Internet, I will not repeat.
In Russian, the locals in my opinion understand better than in English - the attitude is friendly. There are a lot of foreigners - Dutch, British, Albanians, Poles, Slovaks, Czechs, food, Russians are few - but all are normal, adequate guys, which is very good.
They didn’t go to clubs much - all the nightlife in Budva. Only went 3 times to the only decent local club, Madame Coco. Note, it is not customary for Montenegrins to dance in clubs - everyone twitches a little at the bar counters and drinks. If a girl starts dancing in the presence of men, she is considered to be of easy virtue. I don't know what they thought about us guys
The look of the Montenegrins was curiously perplexed. The cocktails were amazing, the music too - although we are not fans of clubs.
A lot of impressions! Of course, the level of service in Western Europe is much higher, but Montenegro takes its toll with its stunning nature, ancient castles and amazing atmosphere.
The best thing about the hotel is the location. We took a room with a sea view. From the window (in the form of a French balcony: a door, and right behind it there is a fence to the waist), if you jump out, you can immediately get to the beach : ) The views are simply amazing! Filmed from the window of the awesome sunset over the Bay of Kotor.
The room furniture is good, towels are changed every day, bed linen about once every 4-5 days.
Now let's go through the cons.
Of the very, very little things, soviet wooden doors (the toilet does not close at all - number 418), an incomprehensible nail sticking out of the middle of the wall.
Further: small holes on the pastel linen were somewhat strained (either on the sheet on the side, then on the pillowcase) and sometimes there were non-washable stains on white towels. I don't think there should be such things in a 3 star hotel.
About food.
Breakfast-dinner. Buffet. Drinks are provided only for breakfast: lemonade and tea (tea is poured by the waiter, who in a strange way either understands or does not understand Russian). In the evening, only water.
If the dinner was even more or less varied, then for breakfast all 2 weeks it was the same: scrambled eggs, sausages, hard-boiled eggs, all kinds of cuts, dry breakfast, croissants and honey or eurocream for tea. By the end of the second week, I could no longer look at the omelet. Despite the fact that the country is southern and fruits grow there, somehow they were not spoiled even in September. For dinner, there was only one fruit: an apple, a banana, a nectarine, a pear or a plum.
Everything else is more or less. The staff is polite. You can deposit valuables and money at the reception.
