I want to share my impressions of a trip to Lithuania. Here my husband and I spent a short weekend, only three full days with 2 nights.
It was our first trip to the Baltics, and now I think it won't be our last. We liked it very much!!!
We bought visas, a hotel, and tickets through a travel agency. We refused excursions because we can’t stand buses packed to the limit with tourists, whom the guide is not able to shout (we have such experience). We had to wait ten days for visas. We wanted the hotel in the very center, so that there is somewhere to take a walk in the evening. Before us, our friends visited Lithuania, and their impressions became decisive both in choosing a country and in choosing a hotel. So! We lived at the NARUTIS hotel. As planned, the hotel is in the oldest part of Vilnius. Maybe a little expensive, but only two nights! As it turned out later, I had to order it myself, it would have been 50-60 euros cheaper, well, agencies should also earn money -))))). , nationalists, do not want to speak Russian, etc.
Everything is not true! ! And in the hotel, and in restaurants and on the street, people always tried to help, they tried to speak Russian, young people really understand it very hard, and the adult contingent speaks almost without an accent. The hotel is wonderful, located in a house of the 16th century !! , small in three floors with a panoramic elevator, with an inner courtyard. Arranged in a classic style. Excellent breakfast buffet in the morning.
Vilnius met us with unreal snowdrifts and sun, which added charm to our trip.
The entire part of the old city has been restored, tidy up to a shine. On the first day, we walked ourselves with a guide, got confused and lost -))) On the second day, a guide was ordered, also from our friends, and we really regretted the lost day yesterday - we wanted to save money, but really lost more!
The whole day until the evening we were "taken by the hand" throughout the city. We were struck by the cathedral, climbed the Gediminas tower, from there a very beautiful panorama opens up. The amazingly beautiful Cathedral of St. Anna, but when everything you see is accompanied by legends, history, you begin to feel the spirit of antiquity , because Vilnius was founded in the 13th century. We wandered along the old unrestored streets. We had lunch at a national cuisine restaurant, the prices are simply ridiculous, somewhere around 6-8 euros per person. Well, their cuisine is mainly potatoes with meat in all sorts of ways. big - how could we get lost))) All this was accompanied by interesting and not intrusive stories about history, culture, personal opinion about the city and country, politics, about the future in general. in clear weather.
The next day there was a trip to an amazing castle of the 14th century, the largest in Europe in Trakai. This is also with a guide, you didn’t have to strain yourself. Trakai is the first capital of Lithuania, a very small town with Karaite culture. After an excursion to the castle itself, we visited restaurant of Karaite cuisine - delicious pies with various fillings, kibinai, with broth. We tried their branded beer. Toward evening we returned to Vilnius, asked to accompany us to the LATINO nightclub. They danced there until the morning!! ! And the next day home. Very little three days. Yes, and in the summer, it will probably be even more interesting. We definitely want to visit Lithuania and Latvia in the summer. Do not spare money on excursions, you will never see the city the way the locals see it. Yes and while their prices are low, you should use it. Well, this is my opinion. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer!

I want to share my impressions about our stay in Vilnius in winter! My husband and I are here the day after tomorrow-home. I DON'T WANT!!!!!! ! Vilnius is all mine!! ! . The first acquaintance took place 2 years ago. Smeared impressions - well, old, well, clean, well, cultural... We lived in REVAL HOTEL, and in ARTIS, now we live (wish I lived like this all my life) in NARUTIS. This is a hotel! ! ! Yes, dear, but in the very heart of Vilnius, you will go to the left, you will reach the Town Hall, you will go to the right, you will reach the Department! The numbers are beyond praise (well, just ABOVE) ! NOOO!! ! The first visit we decided to get around on our own (here, here, here, around) Vilnius. We bought a guidebook and walked away. , the temple, but beautiful, well, like everywhere else... The second visit (on official business of the spouse) was only one day - for me it was shopping in the Acropolis, the prices are 3 times different from Moscow sky! ! And that's it! On the 3rd visit, they hired an individual guide (they gave a telephone at the hotel) Well, you know . . I understood half of the words, half I didn’t, in short, the Lithuanian is young, their names are complex, and I don’t remember! Again, some kind of nonsense. While walking around the old city , I accidentally heard that a small group of tourists was walking with a RUSSIAN guide. I went up and asked about an individual excursion. She said that she couldn’t tomorrow, and tomorrow we flew away! in advance with the same GUIDE, and just now, for the 4th time I saw Vilnius, Trakai REAL. I learned the history of the formation of Lithuania, I learned that in the 13-15 centuries the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was the largest in all of Western and Eastern Europe, stretched from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, and occupied the territory of Russia almost to Moscow!! ! That's how a guide accidentally met on the street can change your mind! lucky for a professional! It's like in lu there was a battle in another country, it seemed, but I didn’t seem to understand anything. I’ll say one thing, to be in Vilnius and not see it from the inside (precisely from the inside, where tourists are not massively taken) and you won’t recognize the essence and charm, the charm of this ancient city, the capital of the Great Lithuanians kings! Be sure to visit Lithuania before the prices changed to European ones. We paid nothing at all - 10 euros per hour. These are only private guides that they take. Through their agencies it is already 2-3 times more expensive, and the guides, I think, are the same ! Ask, write, I will answer all your questions. Julia Kudryashova.
We checked in at 2:30 pm and immediately left the room. And when they returned at nine in the evening, it turned out that they had stolen my laptop and mobile phone, and my friend had a blouse, in which, obviously, the laptop was wrapped. Things were opened, scattered, although the suitcases were not touched: obviously, the professionals worked, they knew that valuables were not transported in clothes.
What impressed me the most was the response of the hotel. I draw your attention - five-star! They began to play up, take statements from the door, camera and prevent us from contacting the police. Like, let's wait until tomorrow. And the next morning: "Let's wait until noon, until three, the director of the hotel will arrive... "
The director of the hotel arrived, said that they were terribly sorry, but at the same time no one offered to pay for the room, dinner, at least to give. In general, we constantly ran after the hotel workers to get some information, and they only gave us promises. The director vowed to compensate for everything, to write a letter confirming their desire, but it would be desirable not to go to the police. Moreover, he painted how they, satraps and monsters, will torment us, take testimony, in general, he would not wish such a fate to his worst enemy. Strange, isn't it? There is a kind of kid sitting in front of you with a cheerful smile and an open face, and he is sure that these girls will leave tonight, and it will be possible to quietly hush everything up.
As a result, we did not receive any letter of guarantee, we wrote a statement about the theft in their name and that's all... And at midnight of the same day we were leaving. And a big hello! Since we still had 6 hours before the train, we took a leisurely walk to the police station, where it turned out that we were not the only victims of this house of robbers. There also came two Frenchmen, one of whom pulled out a purse with all the money, documents and credit cards. But since he just went in and out of the hotel, it was difficult for her to make any claims. But it is a little alarming that during the day there were two thefts in the hotel, and one of them was directly in the room.
It all ended with the fact that no one was going to compensate me for anything, because, firstly, I turned to the police (! ), secondly, there is no evidence that I had this laptop with me at all, and, thirdly They are just as affected as I am. And they called me on my mobile and got rude. Here, and decide whether it is worth stopping here.
