I don’t remember where I read about Weligama. When I looked at this bay on the map (see photo), I thought that, according to the laws of physics, there would definitely be no waves here. But I was wrong, the waves in Sri Lanka were, are and will be everywhere and always.
The hotel is somewhere on the verge between decent and comfortable. New, clean. By the standards of Sri Lanka, it is not at all small, it is on the outskirts. It is on the first line, but there is no exit from the territory directly to the beach. But most of the rooms have an ocean view. The beach in this part of the bay is nicer than in Weligama itself. It is wider and cleaner. Nearby is the mouth of a large freshwater stream, but this did not cause any discomfort.
Food at the hotel is also on the verge between decent and tasty. With restaurants nearby tight, you need to take a tuk-tuk and go to the center. The center is full of everything, and the road is very inexpensive. The store is also far away, next to it is only a fruit shop.
Family rooms do not overlook the ocean, like the others, but the neighboring hotel. This hotel has a very narrow specialization - British surfers under the age of 30 live in it. They yell, drink and dance to loud music.
Once we even had to subdue them, because the party did not end at 22, as usual. My English made an impression on them, and they quickly went to their rooms, drunk.
