My husband and I recently returned from this hotel. The hotel is fully consistent with its 3 stars. Our room was right next to the ocean coast, in a one-story, rather old building, something like a bungalow, but not detached. (see photo) Our room itself was small, although it had everything you needed (shower, toilet, air conditioning, TV, etc. ). We also saw rooms in a new 3-storey building - of course, the rooms there are much better than in the "bungalow", but there is no ocean view from the new building (perhaps from the 3rd floor, perhaps). The food at the hotel leaves much to be desired. We were lucky that we only had breakfast. Although for the money in the same hotel they cooked very well. You could also eat excellently and much cheaper in restaurants 100 meters from the hotel. The most inexpensive of them is Silver Restaurant,
In a nutshell - Rest was a success! =)))
P. S. See also photo.
Don't expect too much from a hotel in terms of luxury.
In general, you need to understand that tourism and hotels are still developing in Sri Lanka, and the service is not always at a high level. In the room, in principle, everything is what you need - air conditioning, large bed, shower. You can always find fault with something. One of ours did not like the room in which they were settled, so the next day they moved to another and did not pay anything.
The food at the hotel is poor. I was advised not to take food at all, we only took breakfast and it was good. You can have a great meal 100 meters to the left, there is a Silver cafe (No name Restaurant), they make food the best and at the best price. So the prices on the beach for food are - beer 2.5 dollars, shrimp + potatoes + salad = 7 dollars, big fish + potatoes + salad = 10 dollars, but the fish is really big. There is a large assortment of shrimp, squid, lobster, different fish, you can also order a shark by prior order.
By the way, be prepared that you will have to wait an hour and a half for food, they have it all around, it can be fast and maybe take an hour and a half. We ate seafood there. There are sodas, cola, mirinda for 0.7 dollars. Cafes are open until 12 at night or even until 2 at night. Once a week they have a disco from Friday to Saturday.
The beach there is a fairy tale, as on the Internet in the pictures. Peace and quiet. I recommend to go to the temple, which is located on a cliff. It will cost you about 8 dollars for the road. There is no need to look for taxi drivers, they themselves approach everyone. If anything from the reception you will promptly call a tuk-tuk. You can wander into the city for shopping for 5 dollars. Beer in the city costs $1. Coconuts are half a dollar, bananas are also about half a dollar.
In terms of entertainment such as fishing, snorkeling and other things, do not get fooled by the locals who themselves are suitable. One of the first words you'll probably hear is "do you wanna see dolphins? ".
We fell for one and went fishing, fishing was bullshit, he invited us to his house for lunch, so then he followed me and asked me to pay for dinner for everyone, although they gave 6 people for fishing 100 dollars to him. There is a nice guy Carcass there, he can be found in the Silver cafe, his company is called like Blue Deep. He really tries to make sure everything is ok. I asked him to look at the sharks so they swam to the right place and actually saw three sharks about 2 meters long, and one swam to a distance of 1.5-2 meters. Impressions are certainly unforgettable. You can also swim and look at the whales. Something has already been written a lot, in general, pick up excursions to your taste, so there is something to see, Sigiriya, a national park, a botanical garden and other things. If you have any questions write. Have a good rest everyone.
The hotel is quite good, I recommend taking only the deluxe in the new building. Quite spacious rooms. Large bathroom. Cleaning every day. If you do not leave 100-200 rupees, they will remove it, but for a 3+ rating. If you leave, then you will change towels, bedding and will decorate the bed with flowers and different figures from the towel (swans, etc. ). Wi-Fi at the reception and near the pool (free of charge), not in the rooms. On the coast, I caught fi from the neighboring Chaaya Blu hotel (surfed the Internet from the coast). I recommend not to take food. You can eat cheaper and tastier next to the hotel, leaving the hotel on the coast to the left, about 100m. The old name is silver (now there is no sign at all). Prices in silvir are beer 300 rupees, giant prawns 500 rubles, crabs 800 rubles, lobster 3200, small cola, etc. 80 rubles. I do not recommend eating in golden or tea, because it is an order of magnitude more expensive. But there are more European dishes in tea. Diving also after 100m to the left, Angel Diving ($30-35). Fishing in the same place as diving 10.000 rupees/boat. Reindeer Lakshmi walks on the territory, loves cookies. Lots of chipmunks, very shy. Sometimes monkeys run.
