On the day of arrival, they wanted to accommodate us in the so-called family room. This is a three-room suite with a kitchen. But! Two rooms with no windows, one toilet, shower for 6 people and very damp, and we have two allergies. We refused. We originally booked three separate rooms. Then we were offered three rooms in a nearby semi working hotel. They said one or two nights. We were very tired and really wanted to take a shower, so we agreed. The rooms were large but the water was trickle and there was no wifi. Then we were invited to breakfast. And in the evening they brought the bill. Breakfast is not included on the day of arrival. You could have warned. Two days later we were leaving for a three-day excursion and we asked for breakfast to be counted towards those days. Then a router was installed in our room and it became more fun, and in the evening we were invited to a free dinner for the inconvenience caused.
A day later, we were indeed relocated. Three rooms in three buildings, as close as possible to the beach. From now on, everything is great! The staff is friendly, they all try to help. Cleaning only if you ask and leave the keys at the reception.
The ocean is generally out of competition. The beach is good. There were enough beds for everyone. Because the hotel is small, there are few guests. There were days when there was no one on the beach except us. Outside the hotel there is a wonderful wild beach. There was always no one there.
Breakfast is poor, but there are always eggs, toast, jam, fruit, pancakes, tea, coffee. You won't be hungry. When we left very early on excursions, they always gave lunch boxes. We dined at Jamil's, dined mainly at O2. Everything is very delicious.
The hotel can take a shuttle if you want to go somewhere without a guide. We took a transfer to pinnawella, 55 c. u. for 6 people.
Marawila is not a very touristy place, so food prices do not go off scale, they found one gift shop, stanley batik. The selection is not very large, but the prices are good.
In conclusion, I want to say that we did not regret that we ended up in Maravilla and the Amagi Beach Hotel. Moreover, we are in Sri Lanka for the second time and there is something to compare with. If you are not looking for service and super amenities, then you will love this place.
Thanks to the hotel and staff. I really want to come back to you again.
