Hello! The first thing I want to say: I fell in love with Sri Lanka, even though a few days have passed, but I already miss it and want to go back. And I know for sure, I'm not alone in my feelings.
However, I was going to write this review for the hotel. I also want to write - around the country, maybe a little later.
So, the truth, and only the truth. The results of the hotel, I'll probably start with the good:
1. Staff - polite, helpful, smiling. Everything we asked for was done and we didn't have to wait long. Reception is friendly. When the padlock on the suitcase broke, at the first request, the master immediately ran in and ate this lock without demanding any money.
2. The bed was not changed every day, about 2-3 times a week. Towels were changed, but not always, but only if thrown on the floor. If they hang, then they change every other time. As for the "troika", who knows, probably normal? Most importantly, they changed

3. There are adapters for sockets in the hotel and they are issued upon request. One “but”: due to some differences in the structure of the plugs, our plugs must be inserted halfway into these adapters, make sure that there is contact. Otherwise, it seems that the adapter does not work (some thought so).
4. There is enough food in the restaurant. There is a sharp one - it is at the end. Most of them are European, but they can still pepper a little. So my child sometimes "burned". Basically, there is an opportunity to choose something for the child. Pastries - for breakfast the same: croissant and puff. For dinner, pastries are a rare guest, full of all sorts of mousses, creams, jellies. And of course, always full trays of sweet pineapples, papaya and bananas (unripe watermelons appeared in the last week of March) - this is for breakfast and dinner (we had the HB food system). For lunch, I don’t know, we dined - to the right, behind the rock, is a restaurant of local cuisine. I will also say that there is no dietary corner and a corner for children's food. Maybe in the "troika" it is necessary? -Do not know. I did not hear any complaints among the guys with whom I became friends there.
5. Towels and mattresses were issued by the pull-man in the morning. Everything that was forgotten on the beach (on the territory of the hotel) - you turn to him - everything will be returned. What is forgotten on the sand outside the territory - sorry. Although I will say about the locals: although they are hucksters, they are those who trade, but not thieves.
6. The restaurant played live local music every weekday evening. Then, having played a little on a voluntary basis, the musicians (all the time different groups of 3 people each) walked around the tables, played and offered their disc for $ 10 (the price is the same for everyone).
7. Interestingly, there are a lot of “ours” and foreigners in the hotel, who come in groups: either the Germans will arrive, then the Poles, then by the end of our vacation - the French. We made friends with the Poles, talked a little with one Englishman. In general, national diversity is even useful.
Now about the cons, which, although they do not particularly spoil the rest, I consider it necessary to say about them:

8. TV - only local, in English. As a result, they watched the BBC in the evening before going to bed, of course, in English. The rest is cricket and local series with an incredibly deep semantic load.
9. Hotel staff - not a single Russian speaker. So, learn English.
10. Neither our race, nor the next one - in a week - none of our compatriots from Ukraine and brothers from Russia - saw any of the representatives of at least one tour operator (and we were sent, it is clear that they are different). We flew with TUI.
11. When my husband stepped on a sea urchin, there was no doctor, no nurse in the hotel, not even at least someone among the staff who could simply provide first aid. I provided it myself, having demanded a first-aid kit from the general manager (bald, smiling, strong build, always with a tie). By the way, what is iodine and whether it is in the first aid kit, the manager had no idea. He offered to call a paid doctor. But then every day at a meeting he was interested in the well-being of her husband.
12. Sun loungers. The most ancient. Plastic - peeling blue paint, and under it is white (painted, because once the case was blue). Wooden ones - some without wheels, others - rotten, fell apart at the slightest movement.
13. Moreover, there were not enough sun loungers, my husband went to borrow at 7 in the morning, and there were usually no more than 5 pieces free. Who came after breakfast - he laid a mattress with a towel right on the ground and sunbathed like that. Another joke: once our friends from Poland did not have enough sun loungers. The pool man came and told us (I quote!!! ): "Children are not allowed to have sun loungers. " (!! ! : -o) These were our friends, especially since people are no longer young. We gave them one sun lounger, as the child mostly either played in the sand or swam in the pool, but almost didn’t lie with us.
14. Plumbing worked for us, but the view was ancient, in places it was cracked, somewhere a strange plaque. Two of our friends (two different rooms) - the shower broke in the rooms, and they were fixed, but they waited a long time in both cases.

15. The air conditioning in the room is very noisy, general, inefficient during the day, better at night, especially in combination with a really noisy ceiling fan. True, the noise background from such a combination prevented me from sleeping, sometimes I woke up in the middle of the night and turned it off. But about the sound of the ocean - it was heard, but believe me, it did not interfere with sleep.
16. Mosquitoes. Only once in the evening the balcony was opened - and the child was bitten badly. My husband and I were not touched. I had to turn on the fumigator all the time, which they brought with them.
17. The balcony was without a handle on the door, it was opened with great difficulty.
18. The furniture is working, but very old.
19. In general, the whole hotel is old, “traces” of the 2004 tsunami are visible everywhere: on the ceiling - the plaster went into bubbles somewhere (and crumbled next to the child’s pillow), in the elevator - the doors in places to a rusty point. Here and there one can feel that the hotel has been "beaten" by a natural disaster, and over the years it has not been sufficiently cleaned up (and have they been doing this at all? ).
20. For some reason, windows were not washed at all somewhere, but somewhere they were washed to a level that the height of the cleaning staff allowed to reach (locals are mostly short people). For example, in a restaurant in the morning, dirty windows spoiled the view of the ocean a little, especially in the early days. Then you get used : )) .
21. For the restaurant: if the hotel is very full at "rush hour" for dinner (from 19-30 to 20-30), it is better not to go to the restaurant. Firstly, once we did not have enough tables, and we were seated together with the Sri Lankans resting in this hotel - at a large table. Secondly, at this time there is an unpleasant flea market and toffee near each dish.
These are all, of course, trifles that still did not spoil our vacation, because nature, climate, fruits are like in paradise. ))) The local population is good, but specific guys, kind, to whom you just need to get used to, you can make friends with them and accept them as they are.
