I want to refute all the negative reviews about this hotel. Great hotel for its price range! The hotel is homely, excellent breakfasts, cleanliness (which is not always found in Sri Lanka, even in a five-star hotel), always clean bedding, everything is new, air conditioning works properly, spacious rooms and a shower room.

The hotel is located very conveniently, in close proximity to several beaches, for every taste - for children, snorkeling and surfing. Restaurants, shops, clubs - everything is nearby.
The new owner of the hotel Ranjan (by the way, he has a charming wife from Russia or Ukraine) is wonderful, cheerful, sympathetic, kind, always ready to help, he speaks excellent Russian, and is also an official guide. We went on excursions with him - it's a delight! Well done, knows the history of the country, it was fun and easy! Everything that we did not know, did not understand, asked, was solved instantly. And it's worth it! Thank you Ranjan and Natasha! We will visit you again!

We chose this hotel because there were good reviews about the owner Sergey, who helps in everything and is very hospitable. But upon arrival it turned out that the hotel had changed owners. The new owner of the hotel is Rajan (his name) from Colombo, who turned out to be very unpleasant. At the airport upon arrival, the owner did not meet us (despite the dangerous situation, terrorist attacks had taken place in the country not long before).

We chose this hotel because there were good reviews about the owner Sergey, who helps in everything and is very hospitable. But upon arrival it turned out that the hotel had changed owners. The new owner of the hotel is Rajan (his name) from Colombo, who turned out to be very unpleasant. At the airport upon arrival, the owner did not meet us (despite the dangerous situation, terrorist attacks had taken place in the country not long before). All tourists in the waiting area were met by representatives with signs and escorted to the transfer. Nobody met us at the airport. When the last tourists were picked up and we were alone in the airport hall, we asked representatives of other companies to help us and they called our driver (he is the owner of the Rajan hotel) and took us to him. It turns out that Rajan was waiting for us in the parking lot far enough from the airport and was waiting for us to call him and find him, because we have phones in the vouchers! (that is, we had to spend money in roaming and look for him, instead of receiving a paid meeting service at the airport). Without the help of other drivers, we would not have found our car and our driver. The car was far away in the parking lot and we were forced to drag our suitcases for 10 minutes along a dirt road to the car. Although other tourists were met by car immediately upon exiting the airport. The owner of the hotel is extremely unfriendly and rude person. He brought us to the hotel, did not provide any information about the village, where what is located, what kind of transport goes where, prices, where it is cheaper to buy, where fairs take place, what beaches are there, what buses go where, etc. He told us only a list of excursions that we can order from him at prices twice as high as those of the others. We refused his excursions, after which the next day the owner of the hotel packed his things and left for Colombo, since it seems to be still working as a guide in Colombo. We stayed at the hotel by ourselves. Only our room was occupied in the hotel. Of the staff, only a Sri Lankan woman who keeps order in the kitchen, she is pleasant, but she does not solve a single issue and does not speak Russian. All the rest days we were left to solve all our problems ourselves, we dealt with everything ourselves. The hotel is located very far from the beaches where you can swim. The beach, which is not intended for swimming near the hotel, has very large waves. That the owner of the hotel also did not say. We have already learned from people on the beach that you need to go swimming in the center to the turtle or coral beach. And it is about 3 km from the hotel. The owner is generally very reluctant to communicate all the time, gives false information on excursions if you refused to go with him. We called the hotel owner several times to clarify how the temples in Kandy and Dambul work, to which he deceived us and said that all the temples were closed due to terrorist attacks and nothing was working. Although he himself drove there as a guide for groups and excursions. As a result, we bought excursions from other travel agencies and visited everything without problems, everything was open and working. The room was cleaned 1 time in 10 days of the tour. We several times turned to the owner of the hotel with a request to clean more often both in the room and on the terrace, but he said that this was not accepted with him. It is hot, the sand is brought behind the feet, the garbage was collected in mountains for several days. But the owner did not respond to requests. In the end, they removed themselves. Although when purchasing the tour we were told that cleaning would be every day, and change of linen 1 time per tour. In fact, cleaning was only 1 time per tour. When we checked with the owner what can be carried in hand luggage, he also told us that fruits are not allowed in hand luggage, which is why we bought a little bit of everything to fit in 20 kg of luggage. At the airport, we learned that fruits can be transported without problems, many boarded the plane with fruit baskets. We were supposed to have a return transfer at 21.30. The owner of the hotel also had to take us to the airport. Around 19 they asked him to open the trunk to load things and go until 21.30 to the ocean and not return to the hotel, but go out onto the road so that he would pick us up there. To which the owner refused, saying that he is now busy, and will open the car at 21.00 before departure, and we definitely need to return to the hotel exactly at 21.30 to load things. Only after I began to insist that he open the car, he, calling me names, how tired he was of me during the rest, nevertheless opened the trunk and put things in it. In summary, the hotel itself is not bad, but the owner of the hotel Rajan is very angry, unfriendly, not only does not help tourists, but also deceives. At the slightest remark, he immediately began to get nervous, scream, say "what he doesn't care", we can write bad reviews, that our reviews are not particularly important to him. Our friends in November were in Hikkaduwa in another hotel, so their owner drove them everywhere, showed everything, advised everyone where it was cheaper to buy, how to get there. And Rajan sees only a wallet in tourists, and if you refuse his services as a guide, he will not pay you a single minute of attention for the entire duration of your stay. I do not recommend. For this price, you can find hotels much closer to the center with friendly, hospitable hosts.
