Hot, humid, spicy
We went to Sri Lanka in August, when it was not the season, we were very worried about the weather and strong waves, but everything turned out to be super. From 14 days, only the last 2 days it was raining. One day almost the whole day, on the second day, periodically, but it didn't bother us. Hikaduwa, a village like everyone else. We drove along the coast, were in Galle (a beautiful town, we weren’t on the beach), Unawatuna is a good bay, comfortable waves, + there is Jung Beach, it’s also good. , In Bentota (a resort with expensive hotels) a beautiful, wide beach, but we didn’t like the ocean. It’s very shallow, you need to go far, and then the waves begin to cover in full swing. In Hikaduwa, there is a bay (near Hikka Trans) where everything is basically swimming, and a little further behind the boats, closer to the market, there are more locals with children, there are no waves at all. On the other hand, the beaches are beautiful, deserted (we were out of season), but the waves are very even. What I didn’t like is that the village is one street through which the main highway passes, which makes it very noisy and not safe. Going out to the promenade in the evening is not an option: crazy basses, tuk tuks and mopeds fly.
