The rest turned out to be unforgettable and this is a huge merit of the hotel staff. So, about the hotel! Roy Villa Beach Hotel (two stars) is located on the southwestern coast of the island, in a resort area near the city of Berwella, but it’s not something to go to, it’s a long ride, about 10-15 minutes by tuk-tuk to the south. The hotel itself is located in the village of Kutukurunda, and the railway station is called Payagala. To the north of the hotel is a large city - Kalutara, also 10-15 minutes by tuk-tuk. Which is very convenient, later I will explain why. In the morning, when we arrived at the hotel, we were met by joyful and friendly Sri Lankans - the administrator, the luggage porter and a bunch of other people. Of course, smiling is their job! But damn, it's still fun! Arrived at 8 am, seated immediately. The room was simply divine. Although, we had the usual standard. Offered Sea View for an additional 10 bucks a day, we refused. From our room you could see the ocean. Ah, this beautiful ocean. . . The room was clean although the furniture is a bit dated but that's AT ALL!!! ! it doesn't matter there. Cleaned every day, sheets and towels changed every other day. And sometimes this nice guy (maid, house skipping, I don’t know how to do it right) even hung up our swimsuits, for which we left him a tip. There are no TVs in Roy Villa standards, only Sea View. Solid four. There are several types of egg preparation to choose from - scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, with bacon or sausages. You can porridge - rice or oatmeal. Freshly squeezed juices, different every day, toast, butter, jam, coffee, tea and a plate of fruit. In general, it's okay! Menu prices are reasonable too! Traditional rice with curry and something else 500-700 rupees (divided by two - we get rubles), fresh juices from 250 to 350 rupees, salads from 300 to 600 rupees, shrimp with rice or noodles - 900 rupees. The menu is varied, the portions are large, sometimes even huge and sooooooooooooo delicious!! ! Special thanks to the chef! For two weeks, they never hurt anything, and even the stomach never hurt. The waiters are friendly, helpful, some understand Russian and very well, most speak English, also quite well. There were no communication problems. . We ate at the hotel and went to other cafes and restaurants. As I wrote above, there are large settlements on both sides of the hotel. Beruwala in the south and Kalutra in the north. In both cities, as well as along the entire coast, there are Food City supermarkets (like our Perekrestok), where you can buy anything you want. The hotel is generally very well located. Many attractions are a maximum of 2 hours by bus - for example, to Galle or Colombo. And from the same Unawatuna or the famous Hikkaduwa to Colombo, it takes 4 hours, no less. And to visit this city is worth it, believe me. We went there three times. And vice versa - if you rest in Maravila or Mount Lavinia, then it will also take 3-4 hours to get to Galle, where the famous Fort is located. Therefore, in terms of geography, we did not regret at all that we chose Roy Villa. Now about the main advantage of the hotel - the beach. Roy Villa stands on a sandy beach and is the only hotel on it!!!!!!!!!! ! Moscow friends, evaluating photos on Instagram, wrote - are you on a desert island? Quiet, beautiful, heavenly, divine beach straight out of Dani Boyle's The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio. You go out in the morning, and there are no souls. In the afternoon - you and a couple of other Russians living in the hotel. An ideal place to rest, relax, talk with yourself, nature and God. Only local dogs, generally harmless, sometimes ran out to our voices. Locals passed by a couple of times. The rest of the time this yellow stripe, probably half a kilometer long, belongs to you. My friend and I even managed to swim topless and at the same time remained unnoticed))) We rested in the so-called off season, but these are just words. The sun shines there all year round. There are tables and everything. Waiters serve right on the beach. In general, everything is a solid 4, but now I remember - yes, what is there - everything is 5 !! ! Near the hotel, by the way, is also full of shops and small shops, bus stops and parking of tuk-tukers, which, if you make friends and agree with them !!!!! , will show the most picturesque local beauties for quite a moderate amount of rupees - waterfalls, Buddha Temples, rice fields, neighboring villages, beaches, etc. Roy Villa Hotel offers a wide range of excursions at reasonable prices - for example, a boat trip + turtles + crocodiles, monitor lizards and a lot of emotions - only 15 bucks, this is almost the whole day. A man, alas, loves to stroke you more (especially your chest). But not everyone's skin accepts their Ayurvedic oils. I have an allergy, for example. Since a familiar local resident brought us to see a hotel where only Germans live, we have something to compare with. There are definitely great hotels in Sri Lanka, but not Roy Villa. Food prices are ridiculous (everything is on their website). You can buy seafood at the market and cook at the hotel, 750 per kg. The ocean is nearby, sunbeds are free. Well, honestly, in a closet. It was dark there, because there was one small window overlooking a part of the railway. Naturally, when clarifying the circumstances at the reception, we were told that for a room with an ocean view it is worth paying another $ 10 for each day. Total +130$ to the already paid ticket. The husband explained in broken English that it was dishonest and they charged us up to $100. As a result, we ended up in a room with a gorgeous ocean view (which, by the way, is not for sale, you can only buy it on the spot), which was our tactical mistake. 3. Excursions from Roy. Yes, it was more convenient for us to take excursions from him, since it is on the spot, it costs the same as that of the meeting party, and what to hide, Roy is an excellent salesman who understands and speaks Russian, will persuade anyone. It was decided to send a family with children to the zoo at their request, and we, 4 people, were supposed to be taken on a sightseeing tour of Colombo itself. We also planned a mass visit to the temple and the old fort, after we pick up the guys from the zoo. Everyone was warned about this in advance and asked to take long skirts with them to get into the temple. I can’t say anything about our sightseeing tour… Bandu doesn’t speak Russian, we speak little English, so he was just a driver. He took us to some store resembling a second hand, drove around in circles and after 5.5 hours he returned us to the zoo. It is worth noting that all these 5.5 hours, having paid $ 20 for entry, poor guys with small children walked around a small zoo, in a heat of +40. Hungry. Three of them could not stand it, took a tuk-tuk and left at their own expense back to the hotel. And we all the rest were gathered and we, in anticipation of an interesting excursion, began to stare out the window! We stared until we realized that we had already left the track and were going back to the hotel))) Bandu replied to our remarks about the temple, the fort and the banal food that the tour was over and everyone had already watched everything)) Allegedly, while the guys were at the zoo, we have already gone to the temple and the fort, and to eat - well, there is a roadside store, go buy something for yourself... )) Naturally, there was no limit to emotions, we finally began to communicate with each other and it turned out that being in the same car, we all travel for different prices)) The price range was from $15 to $25, and those who got to the zoo paid $25 each, paid $20 there and drove back to the hotel))) Well, grief we were paid, in the evening we had a conversation with Roy and he returned half of the cost of the tour to each. 4. State of emergency at work. In the middle of the vacation, to be exact on 23.04, we were going on a 2-day excursion to Kandy (by the way, with huge obstacles, we still got there and it was the most vivid impression of the whole holiday!! ! Do not regret, go for sure! ). We put the player and camera on charge, went down for 1 hour 20 minutes to have dinner (the restaurant was directly under our room), and when we returned, we realized that our room had been broken into from the balcony, and things had been stolen... Yes... the camera, player, all perfume, expensive glasses, as well as all my husband’s clothes, along with his backpack, oddly enough, fruits were stolen from the refrigerator, and my Cosmopolitan was stolen from the refrigerator... )))) Roy called the police, we went to look at the surveillance cameras, which, of course, nothing was recorded. First of all, we called the meeting party - our guide, who at our last meeting said that we can call him at any time and on any issue. But. unfortunately, he replied that he did not have time to solve our problem, since he was leaving tomorrow for an excursion... In general, if someone is interested in the details, I will gladly share this story. I want to say only one thing. In the course of our own investigation, which nevertheless reached the Embassy of the Russian Federation, a RIA Novosti correspondent and many witnesses, it turned out that the hotel is located in a very unfavorable village in which a lot of drug addicts live, hacking rooms is a frequent phenomenon, as can be judged by the number of holes on the doors for new plastic latches. In fact, vacationers live in the wild, where instead of animals there are wild locals. They jump on tall palm trees with machetes, cut down coconuts, make their own arak, and getting into the room costs nothing at all for them (although we still leave the version about the staff, since only someone who could clearly select men's things in the dark knew where men's things were). Roy immediately stopped talking to us in Russian, switched to fluent English, which we don’t really understand, began to say that this was a black mark for him, asked not to go to the embassy, began to tell other guests behind our backs that we ourselves they are to blame for bringing expensive things here and boasting about them on the beach... Well, in general, the rest turned into an absurdity, and Roy turned from a horse... well, in general, yes, into a rodent. Exotic Holiday in general made us very happy. The lovely girl Ella began calling us only after we contacted the Samara travel agency, and she contacted the Labyrinth. It turned out that Ella, as a representative of the meeting party, was not aware of our case at all, but what struck us most of all was that she did not know what Roy Villa was at all, she had never been there, she does not know Roy (although , what to hide, according to Roy’s passport, of course, it’s not Roy, but he doesn’t show his passport to anyone) and in general she said that she couldn’t help us in any way. Just like everyone else. Only the consul helped and supported us, thanks a lot to him, everyone else was waiting for us to finally leave for Russia. Roy said that he would not pay us any compensation, he was under investigation and the insurance company would pay him insurance for the broken door. And in the end, we were left upset and not even with the loss of things (although my husband went on until the end of the vacation in the same clothes in which he went out to dinner), but with his utter helplessness in a foreign land) 5. Departure. No one is warned about this, but there is no transfer to the highway. There is a truck in which your things are loaded, and you yourself are already walking through the darkness to the highway. Neither the family with children, nor the pregnant girl Yana, who had to be called by tuk-tuk, was warned about this. At that time, our goal was already to induce a nix for any reason, so we achieved a separate car to the bus and at least a little respect for the customers who pay money for the rest. Outcome. Roy Villa is not a 2* hotel. This is a guest house where Europeans stay for one or two nights with beachboys for obvious purposes. . Everyone is well aware that everyone earns as best they can, but it's stupid to think that there are only fools around, and Roy is the smartest. Yes, he has nothing to be afraid of, we left, others will come. But I just really want you to understand where you are going, understand that as a rule you have no protection and be very careful when choosing a vacation spot. We arrived at the hotel in the morning, tired, but after meeting with the owner Roy, the fatigue began to disappear. I did not expect so much cordiality, during the entire stay, none of the residents of this hotel was deprived of his attention. If you need something, just tell me, Roy will immediately find a solution (they will take you where you need, they will buy you what you need, etc. ) After the flight, I highly recommend a massage, after it it was already drawn only to the ocean. The people who work there are the most friendly and kind. A smile on the faces makes you forget about the gray everyday life at home. Any whim and at the same time not always for your money))) Before leaving (we were leaving 6 people), the waiter Sampad prepared a surprise for us and arranged dinner. From the first day after arriving home, you understand that there is not enough breakfast, delicious and cute. In general, the food in the hotel restaurant is very varied and tasty. You could even order something that is not on the menu, you could bring fish and they will cook it for you. We often ordered boiled shrimp with local beer (not bad at all). Food is not expensive, worth the money. The waiters all speak a little Russian and try hard to learn our language. The rooms are cozy. There is everything you need for a wonderful holiday. If you are in the mood for French chic or a presidential suite, then you are not here. For example, we only went into the room in the evening to sleep or during the day to take a shower. Separately, about excursions, I recommend traveling with Bandu. Travel Sri Lanka from Roy, it's cheap and complete. Bandu is a sweet, cheerful and interesting person. (English, German and some Russian) Be sure to visit Roy's shops (jewelry and textiles). Maybe not the cheapest, but there you will not be deceived, everything will be done as you want. We sewed a cashmere three-piece suit for my husband there (two days after taking measurements). She sewed a sari for herself. beautifully incredibly.
