I wish you good health)))
So...
Den began his journey to the island of eternal summer back in February 2021, when PCR tests had to be done three days before departure, but that's a completely different story.
On the first day of spring with the Compass operator, he, together with his director Irene (who commanded not only in the office, but also in the joint living area) safely moved to Ceylon on the wings of the UIA. Or Sri Lanka, as it is commonly called now. Upon arrival at the new international airport "Khambatota", which opened in March 2013, they were met by a detachment of "cosmonauts" in international "covid" clothes and humidity inherent in this climate. After all, only 800 km remained to the equator. Everything was well organized. As in Baikonur (although none of the actors have ever been there). We showed our passports, filled out a health declaration and went to get our luggage.
Comfortable buses along the highway brought our, and not only our, tourists to the hotel. The transfer to Bentota was 2.5 hours (on the expressway 180 km).
Upon arrival at Taj Bentota, Den and Irene were not met: the Politburo in full force, the president, the prime minister and the mayor, but there were local natives in space suits and the hospitality of the Sri Lankans. Upon arrival at the hotel, the delivery of PCR was organized. In the cozy room of the lobby bar, tourists were waiting for two workers of the antique profession in spacesuits. "I won't give up without a fight... " - Dan was spinning in his head, but nevertheless he resignedly let his three holes be disturbed by the local Inquisition. And they did it to everyone and without a twinge of conscience. Devastated and tired after a long flight, our travelers went to the rooms (the settlement was instantaneous). Number fell to our heroes 307. Category "deluxe sea view". Here I must say special thanks to the operator "Compass".
And its main office, and its regional offices. God bless him! Both wife and children. The view from the balcony was gorgeous, furniture and plumbing delighted the eye with their novelty and impeccable work (although more than 7 years have passed since the last renovation in 2013). There was also a tea set, and an iron with an ironing board, and a hairdryer, and a safe and even slippers.
Since almost a day had passed since the last meal, they decided not to be late for dinner. At 19-00, in formation and with a song, our heroes went to the restaurant. And then the soul unfolded...Curry with meat...Curry with fish...Curry with curry...The soul was taken away from the hungry road. Fish, meat, salads...Dismembered crabs were served as an exotic item (their death occurred as a result of a sharp temperature drop in the environment). Fruits included papaya, passion fruit, pineapple and watermelon. The waiters were top notch. The staff is "the best". From drinks: bottled beer "Lion", red rum and cocktail "Mojito".
This is what Dan managed to try. Anything I didn't have time to leave the next day. Satisfied, they went into the arms of Morpheus...
Day two and all subsequent.
Waking up in Kyiv at 4-30, Den began frantically to get ready. Breakfast ended in two hours, and still had to be in time for a meeting with the hotel guide. The rays of the rising sun stroked the palm leaves under the balcony, and the ocean purred powerfully outside the window...Suddenly, a striped animal jumped onto the railing. "Chipmunk, " Dan thought. "You yourself are a chipmunk! " - thought the palm squirrel, a rodent from the squirrel family, whose natural range covers almost the entire Hindustan Peninsula and the island of Ceylon.
Having prioritized, the choice was made in favor of breakfast in the first place. After all, no matter how much you feed a tourist, he will still look at the restaurant. In the morning the menu was: scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages (Egyptian-paper), vegetables, fruits.
In principle, as a traditional breakfast in many hotels in the world, but the presence of fresh juices from orange, papaya and watermelon (as well as guava and a wooden apple) favorably distinguished Taj Bentota even among other hotels in Sri Lanka. After breakfast, a hotel guide was waiting for our heroes in the lobby. Surprisingly, the meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Such meetings Den could count on the fingers of one hand for 11 years in tourism ..."I will be a guide - I will not forget! " - he did not stop moving away. Darshana, which is exactly what mom and dad called the guide at birth, gave detailed information about the hotel, spoke about temporary covid restrictions and wished a good rest ..."But what about excursions? " One of the tourists whispered timidly. "Don't worry, " he answered with a smile, "go to the beach before the sun is too hot, I'll write to everyone on Viber later... " No comments.
Looking ahead, I’ll say that, indeed, a few hours later, information appeared in Viber: several excursions were offered to the attention of tourists.
Kandy, Sigiriya, Yala safari and turtle farm. Excursions were all organized by operators and only after 5 days of stay at the hotel. The average cost was $ 100-125 "from the nose. " But let's not be distracted and hurry for our heroes to the beach. On the neatly trimmed lawn of the lower part of the hotel, in the shade of the mangroves, there are a couple of dozen sunbeds. And on top of them perched the same number of vacationers. Bengal monitor lizards roamed imposingly nearby, from time to time absorbing the local fauna. "It's good, Masha .., " Den said and immediately received a powerful right hook from Irene. "All the same, it's good)))" - he did not let up. At the exit to the sandy beach outside the hotel, the local security guard asked for the room number. "Why else would he? " Irene asked.
"To make it easier to identify, " Den answered optimistically. A wide beach strip with fine golden sand was 600-700 meters long and was limited at the edges by ribbons, beyond which tourists were forbidden to leave (as well as leaving the hotel as a whole). More recently, the hotel was surrounded by armed guards, but now the guards have been removed, leaving only restrictive tapes.
Right in the middle of the beach, a ridge of natural rocks and an artificial mound of stones went into the ocean, which served as an excellent breakwater for the restless ocean. The left side of the beach was not suitable for swimming and served mainly for tourists for installations. It was much more comfortable to swim on the right: a gentle entry into the water, relatively small waves and the gaze of the lifeguard were conducive to the adoption of water procedures. After jumping on the waves, our tourists returned to the hotel, sitting in the shade of palm trees.
Time flew by unnoticed and here again I had to go to a restaurant. After tasting a hearty lunch, a mutual decision was made: a pool. Well, firstly, he was right at the exit from the restaurant, and secondly, the beach was occupied by the "reds", as evidenced by the hanging flag on the fence. Relaxation vacation continued. Already on the right side.
When boredom began to reduce his teeth, Den made a strong-willed decision to go in for sports. And he had a choice ..."So .., " - he thought, "I overslept yoga at 7 in the morning, for ping-pong you need a partner and you don't need wind ... ". In the same way, billiards was canceled, because he was not friends with "balls", and chess, as a sedentary form. The pool was too short for swimming and there was no snow for skiing. The choice fell on the gym. After all it was trendy and next to the pool)). He was not alone in the hall: some German was already rushing to the "bright future" on the treadmill. "You're lying - you won't leave! " - Den decided and rushed in pursuit on an exercise bike.
So together in 10 minutes they came to the finish line. The minimum program was completed and, proud of himself, the participant of the "Tour de Taj" went to the sunbed by the pool to do finger exercises on Facebook. The benefit of free internet in the hotel was at any point.
It was evening. The rapidly gathering twilight reminded us that sunset always follows dawn. Realizing this thought, our heroes, obeying their inner Compass, turned into the only a la carte restaurant operating during the quarantine period (restaurants of Chinese and European cuisine were waiting for better times). The proud inscription "Snack" did not shake their confidence, as the restaurant worked for an additional fee and offered seafood dishes. Ehhh ...What was not here! And there was no overseas squash caviar, stuffed pike heads and borsch. But it was offered: shrimp -1900, crabs -1000, sea bass -1200, squid -1000, grouper -1200...All prices were in local rupees and per 100 grams.
The rest of the evening was spent at the Tease bar. Live music played in the room. Two "from the casket" performed popular hits of the 90s.
"Welcome to the Hotel Taj Bentota,
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place..."- Den purred under his breath. Darshana suddenly "drew": "I came to you with greetings, to tell you that the tests were passed ...". Den tensed, but the alarm turned out to be in vain. The guide smiled, and this meant only one thing: "In a healthy body - healthy antibodies! "In a good mood and having tasted all the cocktails at the bar (and there were as many as 8 of them), our antibodies moved to the bedchamber.
So imperceptibly flew all nine days of vacation. It was time to part with the cordiality of the Sri Lankans and say "goodbye" to the hospitable tea island...Goodbye, but don't say goodbye, because Dan was firmly convinced that he would definitely return here. After all, the compass always points the right direction)))
+ Huge green area.
+ High level of service.
+ Last renovation in autumn-winter 2020. Not all rooms are after renovation.
+ Long beach strip, there is a place to enter the ocean without waves.
+ The rooms have everything you need: bathrobe, slippers, ironing board, iron.
+ Good SPA center on site.
"-":
- Superior rooms are already a bit old.
Territory: well-groomed, green.
They only took breakfast. Compared to 5 * in other countries, then 4. There is Indian cuisine. Fresh juices from local fruits, but no orange juice. Baking is plain, poor selection of cheese. The rest is a standard set, eggs, sausages and more.
The beach is amazing. The one to the left of the hotel is not crowded, the water is +30, the waves are medium, the bottom is sand, very gentle. And most importantly, the beach is clean. There are no sun loungers on the beach from the hotel. You can take it from local scourge fights. 2 umbrellas, 2 sun beds for the whole day 1000 rupees, about 6-7 dollars.
The staff at the hotel are attentive and very accommodating. They made us a present for our wedding anniversary, decorated the room, a cake and a bottle of wine. Nice!
Pros of the hotel: service and service at the highest level, 1 minute to the ocean. The food is delicious and varied (they took HB, it was enough). The territory of the hotel is large and green. Sun loungers are located on the hotel grounds, on the grass under the palm trees. The ocean is behind the hotel’s fence (all beaches are state property), there is security at the entrance, they monitor who enters and exits, so they calmly left things on sunbeds (a mattress and towels are attached to the sunbed, you don’t need to carry them from the room). All living creatures are found - chipmunks, monitor lizards, mongooses. Gym, sauna, jacuzzi - free of charge. The room is cleaned 2 times a day. All in all, this hotel is top notch.
Locals say that Vivanta is the best hotel on the coast (value for money).
Were in hotels AVANI, BENTOTA CLUB.
In AVANI BENTOTA 5 * - only the French, Germans have a rest. The hotel is smaller, the rooms are large, beautiful, the pool is smaller, but they are trying to cheat when calculating the bar - check the bills.
BENTOTA CLUB 5 * - an interesting location: on the one hand, the ocean, on the other, the Bentota River, to get to the BENTOTA CLUB - you need to ride a free boat (runs every 15 minutes). There are water activities on the river. Rooms are smaller than in Vivante. The pool is smaller. Mostly Ukrainians, Russians.
Rest REMAINED SATISFIED! And we will be happy to return to Vivanta By Taj when the renovations are completed there.
