We were in Sri Lanka for 15 days, combined a vacation in the east of the country with a 5-day trip and a vacation on the southwest coast, so during our trip we stayed in 7 different hotels, but I will leave information on 3 hotels, one of them Bentota Beach.
The hotel is very well located, not far from the road at the same time isolated, a huge and clean beach, a large well-groomed area.
Settlement: we were met, as elsewhere in Sri Lanka, with soft drinks and refreshing towels (for the sake of objectivity, I note that in all hotels we were treated to something like juice and only in Jungle Beach - it was really freshly squeezed fresh juice). The reception smelled of cloves and spices, but it was cool and settled us in 10 minutes. The hotel representative took us to our room and after demonstrating all its advantages left, and after 5 minutes our luggage was delivered. The room is quite large, about 20-25 sq. m. , a beautiful stylish wall with a corner for making coffee and tea, sugar, cream, water - everything was present. Very stylishly combined 2 in one - a mirror with a table and at the same time this area can be used as a desk. Very comfortable and large beds, a separate dressing area behind the wall near the bathroom. The bathroom is not big, but very comfortable and compact. Marble countertops, mini perfumes, hair dryer, plenty of towels and a beautiful shower behind a glass door. The bed and towels were changed daily, in the evening the bed was decorated with fresh flowers. A large loggia with a sofa, an armchair and a table overlooked the territory and the ocean. The only thing that scared me at first was the noise of the air conditioner when you go out onto the balcony. Our room was a corner one and apparently there was something like ventilation behind the wall and it was buzzing a little, but on the second day we didn’t notice it anymore. Air conditioning in the room is centralized, but you can independently adjust the temperature and power.

The hotel has an excellent swimming pool, the water is constantly updated, there is almost no smell of bleach. The hotel was built in a colonial style, the territory is large and green, the order is constantly maintained. There are enough trestle beds for everyone, helpful and constantly smiling staff brings mattresses and towels as soon as you decide on a trestle bed. There is a SPA, a volleyball court, tennis courts, a playground, a pizzeria and a small bar on the territory (as a minus of a pizzeria, I will say that the price on the menu is without taxes, but you will find out about this only when calculating, taxes are approximately 25% of the total cost) , many of our compatriots, who, as a rule, take the All Inclusive and constantly stick around in the bar or rush around the territory with beer, leaving empty glasses and bottles behind them. I am not a hypocrite and I myself will be happy to sit in a bar in the evening, but I really don’t want Sri Lanka to turn into a kind of Turkey.
On the one hand, the hotel is surrounded by the ocean, on the other hand, the Bentota River. Walking around the area is a real pleasure. The beach is huge and clean. When you go to the beach, there is a security guard, on the Beach-boys beach, we traveled for 5 days around the country before coming to this hotel, and therefore we were not going to take excursions from the guys, but we still got to know some of them and we can say we became friends (despite that they were of no use to us). A nice guy Sami and his friend a jock with dreadlocks, but you still have to bargain with them, because. Tours are a little overpriced.
Meals: we took breakfast and dinner, instead of lunch we drank tea or ate fruit. The restaurant is big and there is enough space for everyone. The food is varied, for every taste and European dishes and local cuisine. They arrange barbecue days, a huge selection of desserts. During our stay at the hotel, we did not have time to try even half of the dishes offered, and they were still constantly changing. It’s good that after breakfast we immediately went to the pool or to the ocean, and after dinner we walked around the territory, otherwise we didn’t fit on the plane after the rest.
It was a little scary that the road passes almost near the hotel. But cars very rarely drive along it and it is practically not noticeable.
Ocean: there were waves, but jumping on them is very cool, the main thing is to go no deeper than chest. Sand was poured out of swimsuits and swimming trunks all the time, but it's worth it. The ocean is clean and warm. It's great to walk along the beach and it's especially beautiful when the sun goes down.
There are a lot of impressions from hotels, from the country, and only after arriving home we already wanted to return to Sri Lanka again. We not only had a great time and saw a lot, we found many friends in this country and will do our best to return there again.
