If you have a document confirming the reservation of a hotel or any accommodation in Akabn, then you do not need to buy a visa for $ 56. Just show the document at the customs, even in the form of a photo, and you will be let through. It’s tedious only upon arrival in Aqaba to put a stamp in the police for free (it took us 15 minutes). And the most delicious last for 5 people (2 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 kid) + 2 bags of 20 kg + 5 bags of 10 kg + 5 bags of 5 kg, the road cost 500 euros. If without luggage in such quantity it is even cheaper (we took family +). From Amman you can fly to Aqaba, the most expensive option.
