How to go to Venice for the weekend for 270 euros
Venice is a city worth visiting. Say expensive? Of course, it is expensive if you are going to travel through an agency, but if you have a visa, the Internet, a few free hours, then we will calculate together how much our trip costs.
How to get there, where to stay
Firstly, you need to remember the earlier you booked tickets, the better. Fortunately, laucosts appeared in Kyiv, so if you order tickets not at the tourist peak, but say for early spring, then, accordingly, the price is cheaper, I managed to get a ticket for 1.200 UAH per person. Do not be afraid that planes do not fly to Venice itself, but to Treviso. Buses run regularly from Treviso, the price is 13 euros (round trip), and in 40 minutes you are in Venice.
Secondly, you need to find a hotel. From personal experience, it is best to look for a hotel not in Venice itself, but in the city of Mestre (10 minutes and you are in the center of Venice). A hotel in Mestre will cost you from 70 euros per day - this, believe me, is both cheaper and better (we had a four for 74 euros for three with very good breakfasts). In Venice, for this money, you would have been accommodated in a room with amenities in the corridor and without breakfast.
Relatively speaking, we have already landed in Treviso, what's next. And then we all just get on a bus that goes to Venice through Mestre and check into a hotel.
Travel cards. On the forums you can often find information that you can go from one end to the other in two hours in Venice - LIE, this city is not so small, it is best to travel by river trams - vaparetto. One trip will cost you 6.5 euros. On the first day, it’s not worth buying a travel card... well, you ride a vaporetto once, you pass by bus... it’s still not profitable to buy a travel card on the first day. Buy on the second day and count the hours… how long you will be in Venice. For tourists, there are travel cards: 12-hour - 16 euros, 24-hour - 18 euros, 36-hour - 23 euros, 48-hour - 28 euros, 72-hour - 33 euros, weekly - 50 euros. I bought a 36-hour pass for 23 euros to travel to the islands, return to the hotel, then on the second day just to ride the tram.
Before the trip, I recommend making a schedule of visits to what you want to see. Seeing everything is impossible. One Piazza San Marco is worth something… maybe it’s just better to take a leisurely walk through the streets of Venice, go into a church and listen to the silence, swim through the canals, visit at least one island, get away from tourists? You decide, here I am not an adviser, everyone has their own plans and tastes....
Food, shopping, shopping.
Venice is an expensive city, but Mestre supermarkets are a separate story. I can only say one thing, just for one visit to Auchan in Mestre, one can say that the road paid off))) Pasta, ham, cheese, olive oil, wine....All this in our stores costs 4 or even 5 times more expensive. Count yourself)))
Restaurants. Expensive, but still, you need to go there at least once, and then do as we did))) Be prepared for the fact that in the restaurant for sitting at a table, the bill will be added from 2 euros to 4, in addition, a service fee of 12% of the invoice amount will also be paid (although, for the life of me, I don’t understand why)))). But, it's sacred. Look for restaurants in which Italian is heard, and best of all, if you see how the dishes are prepared, avoid restaurants in the center of Venice, well, they are very expensive and not always of high quality. Well, you have visited a restaurant, drank homemade wine and you can save. You buy pizza or a sandwich with Permian ham in a supermarket or fast food, wine (it is better to pour it into a plastic bottle... so that it does not catch your eye), sit on the steps next to the Florian cafe, which you eat and drink on San Marco Square enjoy the sights and music of Venice. CONCLUSION: roughly speaking, for 270 euros, it’s really possible to fly to Venice for the weekend (Friday - Sunday) and live there without denying yourself anything
